Hourman will call the store owner to assure they are on the case. Hourman will suggest calling the fire department chief to then call the police to clear our names. Hourman needs to keep his reputation and not be a criminal. He will attempt to assure Hobbs that we will do everything to find and save her. Hourman does asks, "hobbes why did they take marie? Does this have to do with her? with you? or with the captain?"

Captain Desmo and Hour-Man
Tuesday, May 2, 1940 Appleton City Midtown Townhome of Jack Smith 1:35 PM
Jack was more than happy to lend out his phone for their use. Captain Desmo went first, calling the museum to get in touch with Hobbs, or try to again.
"Yes, sir, sorry, sir," Hobbs said once he was on the phone. "I understand you called for me earlier, but it was tea time. I was explaining to them how I was out on break, trying to find a good cup of tea in this city and...oh! Marie kidnapped? Oh, that's terrible, Captain. I'll leave work at once to come help. Yes, I'll explain it to the professor first, but if they say no I'll leave anyway. This is the adventure I came for!"
Meanwhile, Hour-Man wanted to talk to Hobbs, but since Hobbs wasn't in the room, Jack answered instead. "There's no reason in the world why anyone would want to hurt my Marie...unless they were doing it to get to Captain Desmo here. My friend, he's got some powerful enemies."
Next, Hour-Man tried calling Lyttel's Department Store but, obviously after a bomb explosion, they were closed.
Next, he asked the operator to put him through to the fire station closest to Lyttel's Department Store. And he was lucky and got the fire chief on the phone.
"Can I help you? ....yes, I heard there were two masked men at the fire this morning, and they seemed to be helping. You say you're one of them? Well, that's all very well and good to say over the phone. Maybe if you come by the fire house, and my men can identify you, we'll call the police and try to straighten this out for you..."

"I guess we outta wait for Hobbs," said Desmo lighting up his pipe reclining on Jack's sofa with his booted feet up on the coffee table. (Auntie Marie would have scolded him getting the table dirty if she were around...) "Hourman, you think we should go to the Firestation? The police might forgive you... not sure about me after using my gun. We should have a good getaway car just in case. My tricks are getting old... I have only a handful of firecrackers left now and no handcuffs."

Hour-man says, " once Hobbs is here and when he can give us some more information, then we both should go to the fire-station so they can confirm us with helping to clear us. Working with the police instead of them against us would be beneficial. So my mystical enhanced abilities are limited. I can only use my super powers for one hour at a time. Other then my science background, I do not have formal military or fighting training. Most of fighting I learned reading the newspaper hero comics. I am hoping Doris will be sending us some more help but we shall see. Later tonight lets stake out the store's competition to see if the kidnapping and bombing are linked."

"Sounds like a plan," said the 'Captain' smoking his pipe thoughtfully making smoke rings that floated to the ceiling. "More help would be ideal. Meanwhile, you'll find Hobbs quite good with his two dukes. I've seen the man in action before!"

Captain Desmo and Hour-Man
Tuesday, May 2, 1940 Appleton City Midtown Townhome of Jack Smith 2 PM
Hobbs came in, out of breath. "...okay, I'm here!"
Hour-Man tried to pump him for information, but Hobbs looked clueless. "I don't know who you are, mate, but I don't know anything other than what Captain Desmo here told me over the phone."
The two heroes filled Hobbs in more. "Oh! Well, an American costumed vigilante, like in the comic books and radio! A pleasure to meet you. Captain, should I stay here? In case the kidnappers come back? Or do you want me to come to the firehouse with you?"

"I think you better come along Hobbs. Did you bring a gun?" said Desmo. "Jack, I don't think you're in any danger, but you better stay here in case the kidnappers try to phone you about Marie."

Hourman says, " a pleasure to meet you Hobbs. Let's go to the firehouse. Jack in case the kidnappers do call you remember to remain calm, listen to the demands, and make sure they let Marie talk to you, proof of life." Hourman then has an idea, " one of you works for the musueam, yes? Does the musuam have a tape recording device? This way we may listen to the background and see if by blocking the voices we can hear any surroundings to determine the kidnappers location."

Captain Desmo and Hour-Man
Tuesday, May 2, 1940 Appleton City Midtown Leaving the townhome of Jack Smith 2:05 PM
Hobbs shook his head. "Sorry, I never did buy a replacement weapon over here for the service pistol I left behind overseas."
To Hour-Man's suggestion, Hobbs said "You know...I think they do have a tape recorder. We might be able to convince them to let us borrow it..."
((So, fire station first, or the museum next?))

Hourman would suggest the museum do to the hostage situation then to the fire station. He would suggest letting Hobbs get the recorder since he works there. Then back to the house and set it up in case the criminals call. Then the fire station

"Well, never you mind Hobbs ol' boy," said Desmo. "Head to the museum for the tape recorder and set it up, and keep Jack company. Hourman and I will go clear things up at the fire station."

Hourman thinks and says "yes Captain the plan sounds better. Divide and conquer and hopefully we can get some good news here. Oh and Jack we are all going to do everything in our power to save Marie and stop these as kidnappers and assassins. Let's go captain."

Captain Desmo and Hour-Man
Tuesday, May 2, 1940 Appleton City Midtown FDAC Engine 54/Ladder 4/Battalion 9 Station House 2:20 PM
A single fireman at the station could identify, or was willing to identify Captain Desmo and Hour-Man from earlier at the department store. "My name is David Anderson," the blonde, blue-eyed fireman said. "I appreciated your help at the scene this morning, though officially we're supposed to be discouraging that sort of behavior. I've talked to my boss and he says I should wait until my shift ends in three hours, then I can go make a statement at the police station on your behalf. So, the fire...do you know anything I don't know? It was a bomb, right? It looked like an explosion had started the fire, but there was nothing in the building's infrastructure that would have accounted for a fire starting right there."

"Firefighter Anderson, thanks for stepping up to bat for us," said Desmo. "Your statement at the police station will certainly help. Now good man, what you're saying about the Lyell's attack is that the fire was started the bomb before went off? Hour-Man, what do you make of this?"

Hourman shows the evidence to the firefighter and says, " this was from a typical stick bomb. Could this cause this much damage or did the fire start first?" Hourman waiting for a response calculates the science portion of this, both from chemical and physics
