"Credentials? What is this word? We helped Captain Avenger stop three gang members up north and one made mention of a bomb in this trains station of yours. He then asked us to check this station out before we made for the hoodlums base in the mountain up north. He was afraid the bomb may've already made it here, hidden. Captain Avenger should be here soon enough, either later this evening or tomorrow morning. He was escorting our three prisoners to the nearest bastion of law entities. We were told to look for hiding places while he finished this task. I would not like to disappoint the Captain and his FBI."
Gorlock/Dan cocked his head slightly and smiled warmly while holding his palms out. These humans were a distrustful bunch, but there were some shady Durlans too. He could see their apprehension.
"Perhaps there is something we can help you with to prove our worth? We only wish to be useful and compliant."
[Gorlock is tapping into his universal charisma (15) and bond with fellow law enforcers. He will attempt an SCM roll if appropriate.]

As gorlock is speaking tbe caballist does a visual check of the area looking for hidden alcoves or places to put a bomb for mass destruction.
He does ask " is there any famous celebrity or government officiak coming by train in the morning ? or is there military recruits being shipped to bootcamp on the next train in the morning?

Captain Avenger declined the invitation to help transport the criminals, telling the sheriff curtly that this was the sheriff's responsibility.
Without another word, the Captain sprinted to The Cabalist's car, revved the engine, and sped away. There was a bomb to look for, and many miles between him and Minneapolis...

"Are you kidding me?" Lt. Gregerson said, apparently not buying any of Gorlock's sweet talk. "You waltz in here without a badge between either of you, telling me you work with Captain Avenger, but don't know when he's coming? And expect us to give you confidential information? I've half a mind to arrest you both right now..."
"Easy, Lieutenant!" Detective Kaspar said. "With all due respect, sir, I think the pressure of the situation is getting to you. We'd better hear these men out more. They've got a lot of questions, but have been short on details so far. Like about who they are, exactly. If you're not with the FBI, who do you work for?"
But Louis Davis, the security supervisor, was vigorously shaking his head. "There's no time for these games," he said. "I'm going to tell them."
"That is sensitive information, Davis," the Lieutenant said. "I would not do that."
"What does it matter if we don't find the bomb?" Davis countered. "Yes, we received word finally just this evening about who is coming in the morning. The First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, is coming by train and scheduled to arrive at 10:05 am."
As The Cabalist scanned the station, he was mentally aware that there were plenty of places to hide a bomb here. In the newsstand, in the garbage cans, in the restrooms, under the benches, maybe even up in the rafters.

"Badges? We don't need any badges to be useful. And I *did* tell you when the Captain was coming. Either later tonight or tomorrow morning. You need all the hands you can get, and once Captain Avenger gets here, he can reassure you. For now, why don't we pair off with you and help get another set of eyes in the area? I don't think you'd want to anger Mr. Avenger by brushing us off..."
[If they agree, Gorlock wants to look for any locked or otherwise inaccessible areas at the station.]

The caballist says "right now gentlemen the first lady's security and safety are in order. I doubt we could divert her train, so we need to search this station before she arrives. Gorlock is right we need to split up and search all of the nook and cranies and find this bomb.Captain avenger has my car and should be coming here. Lets begin the search."

"Yeah, I caught that," Detective Kaspar said, in a sort of passive-aggressive sparring match with Gorlock. "Either later tonight or tomorrow morning. By what's he doing now that makes you so unsure which it is?"
But the real stumbling block in their plan was the stationmaster. Mr. Bermacki seemed resolute. "Lieutenant, I don't want these strangers allowed free rein in my station! How do we know they're not here to plant the bomb themselves?"
"He raises a good point," the Lieutenant said. "Until Captain Avenger shows up to vouch for you, if Mr. Bermacki doesn't want you in the station, then you're trespassing and I'll have to arrest you."
The Leading Man, with his natural charisma, might be able to smooth things over here, but so far The Leading Man had failed to come into the station. If The Cabalist and Gorlock could not get The Leading Man to help them, there really was no telling how long it would be until The Captain got here...

Captain Avenger is about to drive through Hinckley, about halfway back to Minneapolis. He's been tearing up the road at 80 MPH for quite a ways, but has to slow down through town or risk an accident...

[If Captain Avenger literally only had to wait for the officer to arrive, shouldn't he only be at most a half hour to an hour behind the rest of the heroes?]
"Um? Does it look like we're carrying a bomb? I assume such rudimentary incendiary devices take up a decent amount of space. I see no harm with us assisting you if you are there to keep an eye on us."
Gorlock looked to the distance to see if this Cap Avenger was on his way.

The caballist says to the station director " also when we assist in the search there will be a member of law enforcement with us. We already captured and detained the bombers. Now we need to find the bomb "
The caballist thinks for a second and theorizes " perhaps the bomb could be placed and detonated earlier before it reaches tbe station. Is there a switch station just before reaching the station or an area where other trains can be moved to another rail such as those for commercial trains. This might not be a killing but perhaps a kidnapping of the first lady."

"There is a switch station," the security officer said. "The closest one is a half-mile south of here."
The Cabalist ran south along the tracks, in the cold and the snow, to go check there.
Meanwhile, Gorlock only had 15 minutes to wait for Captain Avenger to arrive. The patriotically-garbed non-vigilante hopped out of The Cabalist's car and raced past The Leading Man, who was watching the entrance.
It must have been frustrating for Gorlock, who was deadlocked with these annoying humans for 30 minutes, to see Captain Avenger's appearance to so completely change their reactions.
"Captain! Thank heavens you made it!" the stationmaster was now saying. "Is there really a bomb? Do you know where to look?"
"Just tell us what to do and we'll follow your lead!" the detective said.
To the south, The Cabalist found the switch point was out in the open with only a point indicator sign standing next to the train tracks. There were no other tracks in the snow.
((sweet reaction rolls: 12, 11, 7, 12 -- enthusiastically friendly from everyone but the lieutenant, who is neutral towards CA. The Capt.'s player tells me he won't be able to post this week, so Gorlock can suggest some things for him.))

[Captain Avenger] "Why haven't you begun searching with my friends yet?" He struck a heroic pose. "We will look behind all closed doors, the garbage cans, the platform... anywhere a strange package, bundle or even obvious bomb may be hidden." He thought a bit. "We should block off all access from cars or trucks to the station and the tracks as well."
[Gorlock] "Do not forget up high as well as down low. The roof of the building and the platform for the trains should be looked at as well." Cap nodded in agreement.
They also both agreed to put the rest of their group to work, including Orpheus Jack and the Leading Man. There was no curfew tonight.

The Leading Man had fallen into a strange torpor. His brain had wandered to a role he had played (or at least his electrical brain told him he had played) in a romantic farce set in a Florida resort town. There he had spent his time in a white suit making wisecracks and charming his romantic lead.
With a jolt, he snapped back into "Lem."
"Come on, kid. You're probably safer with me. I'll take you home to Ma after this. I'm real good with moms. Real good. Let's see what the officer class has cooked up for us to do."
He moved into the train station to be introduced around. Assuming they were amenable, "Lem" would ask if he could search the track beds.
