Howard whispers back " see if you can find out where he was when the maid saw him last. Look around the room to see how the kidnapper entered and alook look for a sign of struggle. If the room has a couch or a covered appliance in a corner check around it to see if the police missed anything and also see if the officer can give u the maid story. Maybe a front row ticket". Then aboud he says " have fun you too."
Howard waits for the couple to go inside while he checks the grounds.

Deciding he had enough of this Captain Avenger stepped back a bit and holding the trash can lid in front of him, charged Dayton with all his might! Captain Avenger finally managed to hit the ex-boxer hard enough that even blocking didn't keep the ex-boxer from getting hurt a little. Andrew just danced about, hoping to keep Clark occupied. Captain Avenger took another hit -- a gut punch under the trash can lid. As Captain Avenger was thrown off his feet and fell to the ground, he wondered -- how could his opponent have done that, without stretching around the lid? That turned out to be his last thought, before he lost consciousness. Andrew was still successfully dodging -- but was now outnumbered two-to-one. (( rolls: 4, 2, 16, 1, 17, 1, 3)) ((Well, that didn't go well -- 3 17's in a row vs. CA! Sorry. I hope Andrew comes back soon and comes up with a solution to this!))

The Leading Man told the Deselles to stay in the hotel room for a while. He even made vague threats about what would happen if they didn't keep the peace. Then he went downstairs and asked for directions to a nearby outerwear store. There he'd buy winter coats, scarves, and hats for the Deselles. That would do for sneaking them around. Good thing it was winter. While he was doing his shopping he decided the best bet for getting the Deselles protection was the Army. He asked around and found out the nearest military post was at Fort Snelling. There was even a trolley connection. So Plan B was to get the Deselles dressed, get them some lunch, then get them to Fort Snelling. From there he'd figure out what to do about the Silver Shirts. Joan in particular seemed pacified by the ability to go shopping and looked stylish in her heavy winter gear. They did not look out of place because most everyone was dressed like that on the streets. It was a short 20-minute trolley ride south to Fort Snelling. The soldiers at the gate looked cold. Maybe the cold made them irritable. When The Leading Man asked to verify they were within visiting hours at the base, the soldier simply replied with "Identification? I'll need to see a driver's license, state ID card, or some proof of insurance from each of you." Henri had his driver's license in his wallet, but Joan looked nervous. "I-I don't normally carry those. And we left so quickly last night. I haven't got them..." "I'm sorry, but this base requires identification; no exceptions," the soldier said curtly. (( roll: 5))

Then aboud he says " have fun you too." Howard waits for the couple to go inside while he checks the grounds. Howard found the means of entrance to the house at the kitchen door, around back. The window in the door was shattered twice -- once was at the bottom corner by the door knob, where someone had broken the glass and reached through to unlock it, but another time was when someone fired a shot through the window from outside. There were no clues to be found out here, though, as the police must have been very thorough; all the glass had been picked up and the shell casing must have been found already -- unless a sniper had shot through the window from much further away. Through the window he could see blood all over the kitchen floor, that had pooled next to a chair. No, under the chair -- he could see drag marks through the blood meaning the chair had been moved after someone was shot. Possibly by the police, had they arrived soon enough. Searching the snow for prints was inconclusive because too many police had already been through here and swept the snow away to search for clues. At the end of the driveway, Howard got lucky and found some tiny shard of broken glass and a screw-on cover from the air valve of a tire. The glass must have been new because no one had bothered to sweep it up yet. The cover had been stepped on and pressed down into the snow, but did not seem to have been there very long either. The cover was on the right side of the driveway, facing the house. There was a lot of foliage cover someone could hide behind on that side of the front yard. Howard checked that out. Behind a bush with some freshly broken twigs, Howard found a receipt. It was from the airport, Wold–Chamberlain Field. Someone had come in on a flight, and it was dated just yesterday. If you want to have to explain to your commanding officer how you turned away two valuable allies so they could be murdered by the Bund, that'll be your chance to take." The Leading Man waited to see what the soldier would do.

The guards seemed unmovable on this subject (without being physically moved).

The two goons closing in him, Andrew backed up, his back bumping up against the wall of the alley. "Now or never, Jack." Andrew heard his uncle let out a string of curses and then something happened. The world went fuzzy, for a moment he thought he'd been decked by that boxer. Then he was floating, hovering outside his body. Only it wasn't his body any more. There was a man there, a man he'd seen in an old family picture or two. But he was different now. He glowed with a eerie, ghostly light. JackAndrew's voice rang out in Jack's head, but he didn't have time to deal with the kid right now. There were bigger problems to handle first, two of 'em to be exact. A pair of big, dumb problems. "Been a long time, Clark," Orpheus Jack said. "You look even uglier than I remember." "Why don't you two scram before something bad happens to you?"

"Jean, looks like you'll need to keep these guys company for a little while. It shouldn't take more'n a minute to get that changed," The Leading Man said. He didn't want to see her get hurt, but seeing as how Henri and her were now estranged and Henri was the real prize, the risk seemed acceptable. These soldiers should keep her safe. The Leading Man left Jean at the gate and drove toward the commanding officer's office with Henri.

"This one is even more unusual," Clark said. "I claim him." "Wait," Bruce said. "We should find out more about his ability first. Take him prisoner." Though Jack dodged Bruce, Clark grabbed Jack by the arm, spun him around, and put him in a sleeper hold! (( rolls: 2, 5, 17, 3, 5))

Jean huddled by the soldier for warmth while The Leading Man and Henri Deselles were escorted past the checkpoint. Fort Snelling was like a small town. They rode up its main street in a car, past a chapel, theater, and hospital. When they reached the headquarters building, The Leading Man hopped out with Henri scrambling to keep up. The Leading Man explained their problem and the short version of their story to a sergeant, who referred them to an executive sergeant at the HQ entrance. "What hard evidence do you have that these people are Fifth Columnists after the Deselles?" Sgt. Colvin asked. "I'd be fine with the Deselles staying here for the rest of the day as our guests, but without hard evidence that someone is out to get them...I don't know what you expect us to do for them. I'll give you eight hours to come up with something concrete." (( rolls: 7+2, 5+2))

What had Clark and the other boys gone and gotten themselves mixed up in? They'd always been small timers before. Get him off you!"Thanks for the advice, kid," Orpheus Jack said through gritted teeth. He attempted to slam his head back into Clark's face and then take some swings at anybody in reach.

(Thought maybe I could RP my way out of this) The smell of cheap liquor and cigarette smoke filled the small officers club on Minnesota army base. The sound of the Lennon sisters from the jukebox was barely heard over the sound of officers, mostly junior grades, trying to make some time with some nurses and other young, pretty officers. But Captain Richard Allen Murphy didn't care.
For he was celebrating, talking and laughing with his fellow men in uniform. Today Lt. Rick was now Captain Rick and Captain Rick was having a good time.
As he took down his third shot of whiskey he was wondering why it had little effect on him. He had never been a heavy drinker and was mildly surprised that he wasn't stumbling over like the rest of his officers. Then all thinking stopped as he looked at her.
She was slim and beautiful, tall but not too tall, thick black hair that has straight and cut square shaped. Full red lips and powerful body that would turn heads and break hearts. She zeroed in on the Captain. He found that despite the training and specialized treatments to create a perfect fighting man he was powerless before such beauty. She came over.
"So you are the new Captain I keep hearing about?"
"Yes, I guess I am" he replied with a touch of nervousness in his voice.
"Come dance with me, she said wrapping her slim arms around his neck.
Unable to resist they started dancing slowly to Benny Goodman song, her warm body close to his.
"This is nice"
"Hmmm?, yes, yes it is"
"But you need to get back into the fight Captain Avenger"!
Suddenly Rick stepped away now alert and shocked.
"YOU NEED TO WAKE UP!"
