"Sure, no problem, don't want to create a scene after all" he replied with a disarming grin. Rick followed the two men out of the train station. They kept walking. "We need more privacy than this," they told Rick. "You'll just have to trust us." They walked a block and a half south, and started down an alley.

>The Leading Man ducked down for cover as Todd died next to him. Unknown to him, the servos of his joints made the move swifter than a normal man could have gotten down. They whirred very quietly again as he opened the car door and bolted for the safety of the house. He rushed up the stairs to gather the Deselles. Once he knew they were safe he planned to hurry them to safety somehow.< The Leading Man made it back into the house before the mystery sniper and herded the Deselles out into the darkness. Since Henri was drunk, and Jean was treacherous, The Leading Man held onto both of them. Under cover of that darkness, they made their way off the property and into the city proper. The Leading Man did not sleep that night. He watched over his two charges in the room he had rented for them in the Minneapolis West Hotel and was on guard for any more attacks, in case the Silver Shirts had managed to follow him. No further attacks came. Early that morning, The Leading Man had begun trying to place long-distance phone calls to MOVIES, hoping for more instructions. But he had no answer from any of his contacts in MOVIES. It was 9 am. Jean was up now, though Henri was still asleep (snoring off and on). She avoided The Leading Man for awhile, which was just as well. The Leading Man had a lot of thinking to do. What could be behind the MOVIES' silence? What use did the Silver Shirts have for Henri Deselles that would make them willing to commit murder? What could The Leading Man do to keep both Henri and Jean safe, when Jean was still intent (as far as The Leading Man knew) on killing Henri? "Have you thought of what we will do for clothes?" Jean asked him at last (around 9:30 am). "We left too suddenly last night to take anything." "You saw those bodies, cheri," "Liam" said to her. "About the only thing keeping you two alive is me and us stayin' hid. So clothes might be the last thing you want to worry about." He could tell that Jean was shook up. His hard-bitten exterior concealed a soft heart so he changed his tone a little. "Your not the first one taken in by a smooth talker and a pretty face. I've been there myself," the last bit would have been a part of the hard-boiled detective's backstory. It was complete fiction for The Leading Man. But his electric brain supplied the notion nonetheless. "Todd was just playing you. And whoever put him up to it killed him because he started talking. And I think keeping you and Henri safe might mean busting up these Silver Shirts. Where were you and Henri on vacation and what were those pictures of that Todd made you get from Henri?"

(Attacking the closest one) Andrew followed the g-man, McInerny and Dayton at a distance, unsure of what was going on. Was the g-man in cahoots with the crooks? Had the crooks been worried that the g-man was closing in on them? Could go either way kid. That was no help. Andrew was at a loss for what to believe right up until the moment that he spied the g-man put on a mask and start going toe-to-toe with both the crooks! "We've got the help him," Andrew said. We sure don't.But Jack's reluctance fell on deaf ears, Andrew was already rushing into the fray, ready to jump on the back of whichever crook the g-man wasn't socking.

Henri said angrily from the bed. Apparently he was awake after all. "When we what, you-- you harlot!" "So what if you call me names?" she shouted back at him. "Why should you even care? All you 'zink about is yourself!" They were looking at things to throw at each other.

"We've got the help him," Andrew said. We sure don't.But Jack's reluctance fell on deaf ears, Andrew was already rushing into the fray, ready to jump on the back of whichever crook the g-man wasn't socking. The fight was on! Captain Avenger leaped at the two men in the alley, leading with his right fist, but the ex-boxer saw it coming and side-stepped so neatly that Captain Avenger missed by four inches. Then the two men started swinging with their fists back -- and they hit hard. The ex-boxer was hitting so hard, it felt like he had to be wearing brass knuckles, but Captain Avenger didn't see any. Andrew was in the alley with them now and tried to jump on a back, but was shrugged off. The ex-boxer stopped Captain Avenger's fist in his palm, then slammed Captain Avenger back into the wall of the alley. Now he was seeing stars! The other man -- Clark McInerny -- grabbed Andrew by the arm. Andrew couldn't break free! But he was able to pivot and get on Clark's back, with Clark's own arm crossed in front of him. (( rolls: 1, 17, 17, 1, 4 -- CA has taken 5 points of damage and is down to 4 hit points -- 5, 2, 12, 17, 3 - CA is down to 1 hp already! -- 5, 15)) ((You can both act next turn...but it sure isn't looking good for you. All the good rolls happened for the bad guys.))

"Whatever you two want to do to each other when all this is over is fine with me. But in the mean time I ain't payin' if you lose our deposit on this room. Unless you know someone who'll hide you, we need to be able ta stay here fer a while." The two of them remained visibly angry but now a little less likely to do any damage. He decided he would give MOVIES one more try. After that he had a bad backup plan for getting these two to safety.

Howard says " well if I see this man I will report it. I am a little amatuer myself good at noticing things, this talents helps me in my magician act. Anyway by chance can you escort me into the house so I can look around and see if anything is missing or a clue was missed. You will be with me and if I find something I will definitely show it to you."

His telephone bill from the hotel was going to be daunting. Either something had happened that put MOVIES in "radio silence" since The Leading Man left, or something had happened to MOVIES... But his mission remained; the Deselles were not safe, and these Silver Shirts were a threat. And they were hungry. It was noon and they had not eaten yet, which was making them even more irritable. It was time for Plan B.

(Is there a garbage can in the alley? If there is CA will pick it up and slam it on the ex-boxer head.) ((Sure, we can say there's a garbage can or two!)) Captain Avenger felt like he was almost out on his feet, but as he lunged for a garbage can lid he luckily dodged what would have been a knockout punch. Holding the garbage can lid on his arm like a shield, Captain Avenger was also able to strike out with the edge of it like a clubbing weapon -- but, again, the ex-boxer anticipated his move and blocked it! At least that kid Andrew was keeping the other one busy. Clark McInerny stopped fighting for a moment and was staring at Andrew, but spoke to Dayton. "There is something unusual about this one too." Meanwhile, Andrew was mentally distracted, urging Uncle Jack to lend Andrew some of that supernatural power Andrew knew he could do. I've told you, kid, I'm not doing that again until you dress like me!(( rolls: 1, 3, 1, 5))

Veronica asked, giving him the eye and putting on her sexy act. "I've never been to a crime scene before. Could you give little ol' me a look around with ...big...strong you...?" she put her hand on his chest at the word "big". "Heh. Sure. I'll give you a tour. But he stays out here," the randy older cop said. "I'll be right behind you, big boy," Veronica said. When the cop turned, she whispered to Howard, "Tell me what you want me to look for inside. You can search the grounds." (( rolls: 6, 10))

It was time for Plan B. The Leading Man told the Deselles to stay in the hotel room for a while. He even made vague threats about what would happen if they didn't keep the peace. Then he went downstairs and asked for directions to a nearby outerwear store. There he'd buy winter coats, scarves, and hats for the Deselles. That would do for sneaking them around. Good thing it was winter. While he was doing his shopping he decided the best bet for getting the Deselles protection was the Army. He asked around and found out the nearest military post was at Fort Snelling. There was even a trolley connection. So Plan B was to get the Deselles dressed, get them some lunch, then get them to Fort Snelling. From there he'd figure out what to do about the Silver Shirts.
