"The Deselles aren't here. But you are. And that means you're trespassing. Beat feet or give up," The Leading Man said.
The Leading Man tensed slightly. He was ready to rush the man if he did not listen to instructions.

"The Deselles aren't here. But you are. And that means you're trespassing. Beat feet or give up," The Leading Man said. The Leading Man tensed slightly. He was ready to rush the man if he did not listen to instructions. Combat was joined as both men rushed each other! The man in the mask was fast and pistol whipped The Leading Man upside the head -- thankfully, TLM had a thick skull! The Leading Man grabbed for the gun ((I assume -- same intention as last "battle"?)), but didn't have it in hand yet. (( 1, 5, 14, 1, 7 - TLM is down 1 hp))

The man in the mask just thought he'd missed last time, so he pistol whipped The Leading Man real good this time. It came down on his forehead and hit hard enough to make a "KLUNK!" noise and leave The Leading Man with a massive headache. But that "klunk" also made the masked man pause -- long enough for The Leading Man to snatch his gun and bend the barrel.
Again, The Leading Man referred to this man as Todd ((I'm going to assume)). But this time the man panicked and said, "I'm not Todd! He's outside and sent me in!"
((4, 5, 18, 3, 16, 7 - TLM is down to 5 hp))

((I would not count on me posting over weekends. And are you going to resort to shorthand in your posting too?))
The Leading Man shook his head to loosen up the cobwebs.
"Where is Todd? Besides outside."
The Leading Man would follow the thug's directions, carefully. But first he would tie his hands with whatever he could find in the kitchen.

((I would not count on me posting over weekends. And are you going to resort to shorthand in your posting too?)) The Leading Man shook his head to loosen up the cobwebs. "Where is Todd? Besides outside." The Leading Man would follow the thug's directions, carefully. But first he would tie his hands with whatever he could find in the kitchen. The Leading Man made a tactical mistake, thinking the intruder was surrendering to him. As The Leading Man reached to grab the man, the intruder jerked away. "Don't come near me!" the intruder shouted at The Leading Man. The Leading Man had to chase the man around the kitchen before getting a chance to leap and tackle the masked man. The masked man went down, pinned face first to the linoleum. The Leading Man kicked a nearby cabinet door open with a free foot. Inside, The Leading Man spotted an old dishrag long enough to tie up the man's wrists, at least. Now, The Leading Man could question him about Todd. "He's waiting in a car outside!" the captured man said. (( rolls: 17, 4, 3, 18, 1))

"Stay here," The Leading Man said. He took the thug's gun and tossed it out the door. As he moved his arm in the throwing motion, once again the tiny motors inside his body whirred and powered up. The light toss The Leading Man had meant to do turned into a powerful launch of the gun. It flew into the fieldstone half-wall around the patio outside.
Then The Leading Man headed outside to sneak up on Todd.
((Wreck the gun.))

Then The Leading Man headed outside to sneak up on Todd. ((Wreck the gun.)) The gun hit the wall with a surprising cracking sound. It had certainly been shoddily made, what with how easily its barrel had bent, and then smashed against a wall! The Leading Man did indeed see a car parked at the end of the driveway with its lights off. The dark silhouette of a man behind the wheel could be seen. The Leading Man had the advantage of plenty of cover between the kitchen's side door to the house and the end of the driveway, both in terms of darkness and a combination of trees and shrubbery. Like an expert ...sneaky person, he crept right up to the side of the car and got a good look at the driver. If this was, finally, Todd Littrick, he did seem a good-looking, mustached man of about 30 years old, in a dark suit. The Leading Man had read the license plate already too (163 243). Now he just had to decide on how best to deal with Todd... (( rolls: 9, 1, 6))

The Leading Man decided to slow Todd down in case he tried to escape in his car. So he let the air out of one of the back tires before opening the passenger's side door and climbing in.
"Hey Mac. Wanna give me a lift? You can drop me off on your way to the slammer," The Leading Man said to the handsome man.

The man in the driver's seat was startled and jumped back in his seat, but recovered quickly. "Who are you, what do you want, and how do we resolve this quickly?" The man who seemed to be Todd Littrick asked. "I'm more of a lover than a fighter. Will you take $200 to just walk away and forget this whole thing?" (( rolls: 7, 7))

"Yeah, your associate made it clear you weren't much for gettin' yer hands dirty. Let me see the money," The Leading Man said.
"So, who's idea was this scheme?" The Leading Man asked conversationally. He wanted to keep the guy talking. And a down-at-heels gumshoe would want to get whatever scratch he could out of this situation. Then The Leading Man would find a way to get this guy into jail.

Then The Leading Man would find a way to get this guy into jail. "I can give you $100 now, and another $100 if you come with me downtown. But if you're taking the money, you're not allowed to ask questions..." Todd fished around in his back pocket and slowly pulled out a fat wallet. It looked like he had $100 to spare in there.

"I wouldn't push my luck if I were a man who had hired another man to kill another man," The Leading Man said. "You answer my questions or you answer questions from the boys with the tin badges. You might come out of this alright. But only if you keep doing what you're told."
The Leading Man held out his hand for the man's wallet.

Todd looked confused for only a moment, then said, "Oh, I get it. This isn't a bribe, it's a shakedown. You want answers? ...Fine. The Silver Shirts want Henri Deselles. At first it was because he accidentally took some photos while on vacation of their secret lair. I already got that roll of film back after seducing his wife. But when they learned that--" Todd was interrupted when he took a bullet to the back of the head, shot at him through the driver's side window, from an unseen sniper.

The Leading Man ducked down for cover as Todd died next to him. Unknown to him, the servos of his joints made the move swifter than a normal man could have gotten down. They whirred very quietly again as he opened the car door and bolted for the safety of the house. He rushed up the stairs to gather the Deselles. Once he knew they were safe he planned to hurry them to safety somehow.
