Howard says to the officers " see roscoe did commit the murder. Now someone get this chimp off me. " Howard goes into his pockets for some magician flashpowder to throw it on the ground and blind roscoe and billy. He will close his eyes as he tosses the powder. Howard must have forgotten his flash powder in his other suit! ((I don't see it on your equipment list, though.)) He blocked the enraged chimp as best he could. The two closest beat cops tried to pistol whip the ape until it moved off of Howard, but the ape just batted them away with wild swings of its arms. Roscoe was still trying to escape, but Howard still had him pinned. Finally, one the cops managed to pistol whip the chimp. Billy recoiled, stinging from the wound, and seemed to have the fight knocked out of him. Roscoe seemed exasperated. "Stupid chimp! I'll whip you myself and see how you like it!" But it was all over for Roscoe. The cops helped him to his feet now and handcuffed him. But they handcuffed Howard too! Detective Larson was back on the scene now and stood in front of the prisoners. "Now what's going on here...?" Larson asked. "A falling out between murderers?" (( rolls: 4, 6, 4, 4, 4 -- I think the online dice roller got stuck!, 9, 5, 1, 13, 1, 2 damage to the chimp, 13, 4))

"Liam" looked down at the crushed gun in his hands, dumbfounded for a moment. "Must've been a prop gun," he thought to himself. Out loud he said, "It's time to give up, doll. If you want a divorce then it can be Splitsville. But nobody's getting killed over this. Why don't you sit down and let me explain the situation to you and Henri." Jean didn't sit down, but she kept her back to the wall and moved into a corner of the room. She still looked frightened at The Leading Man. Henri was sitting now too, and had a mixture of surprise and fear on his face as he watched The Leading Man. But at least they were both finally ready to listen...

Returning for the police station he asked around about who might be arriving from Washington in two days. He was thinking as Rick Murphy that quietly increasing security would be a good idea.

Howard says " detective if will help me up I will explain sid's death. Roscoe was jealous of sid because June loved sid and not him. His solution was to kill sid. If you open the door to the next room here is the evidence. " Howard asks the night watchmen to open the door.
Howard continues " as you can see there is a pillow case with powder burns and a hole where the bullet was fired. Also there is a fresh case on the pillow. Roscoe had his chimp wait for sid to returned and then to shoot sid. Billy the chimp can be trained to do tricks and if you see the act he is quite talented, also there is a chimp hair that was discovered near the pillow. After the shot during the confusion Roscoe comes and hides the burnt pillow case and replace it with a new one and conceals the evidence. "

You're giving me the heebie-jeebies," The Leading Man started. "Listen, whatever it is that has you two goin' after each other isn't my concern. I was sent here because the Army thinks the Nazis might be lookin' to bury the both of you. And they sent me to convince you two to leave town and go into 'protective custody'. I am done playing nice, so are the two of you convinced? Can I call some folks to come pick you up and send to somewhere safe? Somewhere separate and safe if you like?" The Leading Man was still holding the pistol he had crushed. He looked down at it and his expression was bewildered. He tossed the thing into a waste basket he found in a corner. Then he set the table back upright. It leaned a little but stayed standing. He kept a close eye on the Deselles, especially Jean, while he put the knicknacks back on the table. "Sorry about the broken pup," he said referring to a china dog that had not survived the fall. He straightened up and dusted off his suit. "So, can I make that phone call?"

" Roscoe could have played it smarter, but he folded under the pressure. "Okay, you got me! I did it for June! She was supposed to be with me!" "Take him away," Detective Larson said about Roscoe. "Uncuff the other guy," he said about Howard. "Okay, Cabalist, seems like you were right. I guess I can ignore a little thing about tampering with a crime scene, now that I've got the confession. Next time you decide to play detective in my town, try to be more careful." After the Cabalist said whatever he wanted to say, Larson turned to the remaining officers at the scene and said, "Come on, let's go home. I need a good night's sleep!" (( roll: 9))

The Leading Man continued, "But let me ask, was killing your husband his idea?" "No!" Jean exclaimed, but she soon walked that back to "We discussed it 'togezer. He gave me 'ze poison to put in Henri's drinks. His name is Todd. Todd Littrick." Henri glared at her from across the room, but stayed silent. It seemed time to place the call. Luckily, there was a phone in the sitting room. The Leading Man picked it up and asked the operator to connect him to Hollywood. Henri was nodding off in his chair now, but Jean was alert in her corner and glancing at the windows nervously. While The Leading Man was waiting for the connection to be made, he grilled Jean on what she was looking for. "Todd. I was supposed to meet him outside soon," she confessed. Just then, the phone line went dead.

Howard says " thank u detective. I definitely will be more careful in the future. Also for ur great work if you want to see the show, for u and your family let me know and I will cover ur admission. Also of course any credit should go to you for solving the case as I was just playing consulting detective. " Howard then heads home for the night.

Playing the part of the suspicious private eye, The Leading Man said, "Alright you two, let's hustle upstairs to keep you safe. Todd may be coming to do the job himself." The Leading Man pulled the curtains closed and hustled the Deselles toward the stairs, keeping himself between them and the windows and then the front door.

The Leading Man pulled the curtains closed and hustled the Deselles toward the stairs, keeping himself between them and the windows and then the front door. This time, the Deselles finally both cooperated. The Leading Man shooed them upstairs. Before The Leading Man could start up the stairs, he heard what sounded like glass breaking in the kitchen. ((The doorway to the kitchen is about 10' away; I can prepare a map if you need one.))

The Leading Man walked into the kitchen casually. There he found a good-looking, but not movie-star good-looking, man who was letting himself in the kitchen door.
"Todd Littrick? I'm the leading man in this mystery and you are clearly up to no good. Best to give yourself up before I beat you up and leave you for the police to deal with," The Leading Man threatened.

If the man in the black suit, wearing a black mask, opening the back door (it was clear he had broken the glass, reached through, and unlocked the back door before TLM entered the room) was Todd Littrick, he didn't say so. Instead, he waved a black gun in The Leading Man's direction and shouted "Who are you? Where are the Deselles?"
