Howard smiled as his trap worked now he had the motive. He says " Chris, roscoe and the chimp are the killers help me stop them from leaving out the back door. " Howard tries to tackle Roscoe.

The Leading Man was in the middle of his speech when Jean Deselles pulled a .38 revolver out of her purse and pointed it at them. Henri backed up by The Leading Man, so they were both 10' from her. "Oh, how I hate you, Henri! Why couldn't you have just drank what I gave you and died peacefully in your sleep? Now you force me to 'zis. But...maybe I am lucky you brought a friend home, no? Maybe I can shoot you both, but make it look like Henri surprised a burglar?" "That plan will not work, Cheri," "Liam" drawled. "The maid knows I'm no burglar. You haven't done anything yet, Jeanne. Look, some bad customers are looking to kill you and your husband. Maybe we can get you both to safety, and perhaps safety in different places? I'm sure my friends in Washington would be glad to help with that." As he spoke, The Leading Man slid his foot over so that it was next to the leg of a nearby table. If Mrs. Deselles looked ready to fire, he would kick it toward her to distract her and then lunge for her gun.

Drawing himself to full height Cap raised his two fist, "These are the only weapons I have and they will take you out before you ever have a chance to fire (I hope), so how about you put away those toys and let me get some information. I just want to ask you about the Nazi gang the Silver Shirts that's been terrorizing both the city and your people." The two guards just looked at each other and shrugged. "Okay. It's your funeral..." one of them said. They pulled the lever and the platform came back up. One of the guards got on the platform with Captain Avenger, but kept his gun trained on the Captain. "Don't try nothing foolish and you'll get to talk to the boss." The platform landed in a cellar that must have been 20' beneath the street level. The walls were concrete, but had rugs hung on them. The floor was carpeted. There were electric lights overhead and Tommy Dorsey's orchestra performing over a radio piped into the room. There were eleven customers gambling, four of them women. They were all wearing nice clothes and looked like they were upper middle class-type people. There was a cigarette girl wandering around selling her wares, and most everyone down here had been smoking until a thick haze covered the ceiling. There were two more men in the room who looked like guards, plus there were croupiers for blackjack, routlette, and a craps table. Everyone turned to look at the colorfully-garbed superhero now in their midst. The cigarette girl boldly came over. "Lucky Strikes? Lottery ticket?" she asked. "Back away, Lois, this one might be dangerous," the guard who rode down with him said. "I'm taking him to see Neal." There was a door at the back of the room that the two other guards gravitated towards. The man with Captain Avenger moved over to the door and knocked on it. A slot slid open and someone looked through. "Is he for real?" the guy behind the door said to the guard next to Captain Avenger, about Captain Avenger. "That's for Neal to decide," the guard said. The door was opened a minute later and Captain Avenger was escorted inside by two guards. He was in an office decorated like the previous room, with the same music playing, but with a desk instead of gambling tables. There was a man behind the desk, and a big goon behind the man at the desk. The man at the desk must have been Neal. "Ha, who are you supposed to be?" Neal asked. "You're not anyone I recognize from the comic books."

( Scott I casted my sleep spell earlier could I use my wand to cast it again?) ((No.)) Howard rushed after Roscoe and tackled him flat to the floor. But Roscoe wasn't completely helpless. "Billy! Protect me!" Roscoe shouted. But the chimp seemed confused and stayed where he was as the police arrived at the end of the hall beside Chris the Night Watchman. "What's going on there?" a policeman asked. Before Howard could explain, Billy the Chimp finally attacked. The chimp lunged at Howard, grabbing at his clothes, but failing so far to pull Howard off of Roscoe. (( rolls: 12, 1, 6, 3))

Her brow knit with frustration as she tried to come up with another solution. But she kept her eyes and her gun trained on the two men in the room. "Jean, I..." Henri started. "Shut it, Henri! God, I am so sick of you. Ah, I have it! We will just go with 'ze 'it was dark and I 'zought 'zey were burglars' excuse, no?" It looked like she was about to shoot, so The Leading Man launched into action and moved to kick the table. But she noticed and fired first. It was a hasty shot and missed by inches. But the kicked table was poorly aimed and missed as well. The Leading Man lunged for the gun and grappled for it. He was not able to dislodge the gun from her hand, but he was able to keep her from pointing it at him. Her next shot went three inches from his ear -- leaving a ringing noise -- but hit the wall instead of anyone. ( rolls: 6, 4, 4, 6, 5, 7, 5, 1, 9, 17, 4))

Roscoe still couldn't escape Howard's hold, but Howard couldn't dodge Billy either. Billy bit Howard -- not hard enough to take off Howard's arm or anything, but hard enough to show Howard that Billy wasn't playing around. Meanwhile, two police officers moved forward (10' away). They had their guns out, but seemed unsure of what to do. "How do we hit the chimp without hitting the guys wrestling?" (( rolls: 19, 2, 10, 1 point of damage to Howard))

"Hmm...I must confess, I do not know what our beloved leader Davie -- may he come home from war a war hero -- would do in this situation. Me, I'm more of a gambling man, though..." Neal picked up a deck of cards from his desk and came around the desk, shuffling it. "It's a standard deck. I'll pick a top card. If its value is 9 or higher, counting aces, I tell you what you want to know. If it's lower, I watch my boys bounce you off the sidewalk. Ready?" Before Captain Avenger could say whether or not he was in favor of this plan, Neal drew the top card. It was the 10 of spades. "Your lucky day," Neal said. "Okay, the Silver Shirts are no friends of ours. In fact, we rough them up whenever we spot them. They've got a hideout somewhere up north, but have been coming back down into the Twin Cities with some kind of scheme cooking. We think it has to do with the train station. Not only have they been showing up there a lot lately, but there's rumor going around that some Washington bigwig is supposed to arrive by train at the station in two days." (( 6, 9))

Quelle-- how did you do 'zat?" she asked as she backed away towards the sitting room's exit. (( roll: 10))

Howard says to the officers " see roscoe did commit the murder. Now someone get this chimp off me. "
Howard goes into his pockets for some magician flashpowder to throw it on the ground and blind roscoe and billy. He will close his eyes as he tosses the powder.

"Must've been a prop gun," he thought to himself. Out loud he said, "It's time to give up, doll. If you want a divorce then it can be Splitsville. But nobody's getting killed over this. Why don't you sit down and let me explain the situation to you and Henri."

He said leaning on desk, "Next time though, you should be more hospital to your guest" He then laid a fist down on the table preparing to smash it in two. (roll on the wrecking things table) Captain Avenger was a little off his game (maybe all that bluffing was too distracting?) and only managed an 8" long crack in the desktop -- enough to demonstrate he was really strong, but not to demonstrate he was super strong. "See this tough guy out..." Neal said to his men. He tried to sound tough too, but he was backing away from Captain Avenger while he said it. Captain Avenger was escorted to the exit ((unless he plans to make further trouble for the hoodlums)). The only new information really had was a general direction for their hideout and, more importantly, a possible time table for the Silver Shirts' plans. He had less than two days to wreck their plans at the train station. (( roll: 4))
