Hour-Man and Captain Hawkman (and Sandman, Carl Bradley) Monday May 22, 1940, 6:38 pm Philadelphia Corner of S 21st Street and Lombard Street
Whatever was going on in Danny's head...when he saw the gun he snapped and charged Captain Hawkman. Swinging his bat wildly, he actually tipped the gun and made Captain Hawkman accidentally shoot him at point blank range.
BAM!
Danny fell to the floor, bleeding badly and already unconscious.
"Yeah, I was gonna say, don't recruit Danny," Carl Bradley said. "He's a weird one. Absolutely obsessed with his old baseball days."
"That's one more shot to be overheard," the Sandman said. "We can either make our escape now, or stand our ground here. We seem to be besting every wave of reinforcements to come our way."

"Sorry I had to do that, pal," said Desmo closing Danny's eyes for the last time and cleaning out his pockets. "As Sandman says, maybe we better go for now and get a bigger team."

Hour-man will attempt to bind Danny's wounds and sling him over his shoulder. He comments, " despite being a bad guy he still needs a hospital. Let's get out of here as quick as possible"

"Glad you're here, Hour-man," said Desmo a little soberly. "I thought for sure he was already a goner. To the hospital then right away as you say."

Hour-Man and Captain Hawkman (and Sandman, Carl Bradley) Monday May 22, 1940, 6:48 pm Philadelphia Corner of S 21st Street and Lombard Street
Danny's life signs had been weak and easily missed; Hour-Man knew he would have to act fast. The Heroes were only 50' into the building from the stairway entrance to the roof, so it was easy to pick Danny up and move him to the roof.
"Wait, those wings work?" Carl said, looking back and forth between Captain Hawkman and the edge of the roof. "You're going to carry me off the side of a four-story roof?"
To appease Carl, Captain Hawkman took Sandman down to the ground first while Hour-Man was checking on his patient. When he came back, Hour-Man had dour news. They were going to lose Danny - unless Hour-Man activated his "hour of power" and moved at super-speed to the nearest hospital.

The Cap hurriedly flew Hour-Man to the ground so he could go to the hospital, and then flew up and got Carl.

Hour-Man and Captain Hawkman (and Sandman, Carl Bradley) Monday May 22, 1940, 6:58 pm Philadelphia Corner of S 21st Street and Lombard Street
Thanks to Sandman speedily giving Hour-Man directions to the hospital, Hour-Man was able to speed there with his dying burden and arrive in the proverbial nick of time.
The hospital security didn't recognize Hour-Man, but were more concerned about getting Danny to the emergency room than dealing with this strangly-garbed fellow.
Meanwhile, Sandman said to Captain Hawkman. "We should get moving; they may already have eyes on us from inside the building..."
It was a busy street and many passerbys were surprised to see the two costumed heroes running by. Once down the street a ways they ducked into an alley and Sandman said, "Hour-Man will likely go back to where we were before...but I hesitate to bring Carl there."
"I don't really want to hang out with you guys, either," Carl said, shrugging off the insult. "But if you guys want another crack at that joint, I'll give you the number of the flophouse I call home so you can reach me. An' I'd hurry back soon too, before she's able to pull up stakes and move to a new, safer location."
((Anything else you want to do or say before you meet back up at 8 pm, let me know.))

"Look, fellows," said Desmo putting a friendly hand on Carl's shoulder and looking at both Carl and the Sandman. "Give each other a chance. We'll all get to know each other better with time."
"By the way, Carl," added the Cap. "Thanks for your number and helping out tonight. You'll definitely be hearing from me soon. We need to also work out a way for you to make a 'clean' living if you get my drift."

Hour-Man and Captain Hawkman (and Sandman, Carl Bradley) Monday May 22, 1940, 11 pm Philadelphia Dodge Mansion
Hour-Man and Captain Hawkman had been guests at the Sandman's domicile for some time now. Coffee had been made, everyone relaxed half out of costume, and the situation had been discussed.
It seemed clear that their odds would be better with the whole team, but Carl had raised a good point that the longer they delayed the more time Dr. Arman had to prepare for them, or pull up stakes and move elsewhere. So they went to the phone and contacted who they could.
Doris West was late at the office in Washington and was able to answer the phone herself for a change. She listened and promised she could be there by morning, at the latest. She was certain that Bart Regan would come with her and agreed to reach out to him for them.
Zatara was back in Appleton City and promised he would be there by morning too - and would bring the Spectre with him.
"It sounds like you will have the entire society at your backs," Zatara observed.*
((*This was all determined by random rolls and the dice wanted you really overpowered for the rest of this scenario! I'll pause here in case you wanted to do anything else tonight or discuss anything else tonight, before meeting your teammates in the morning.))

The Cap had a stiff drink and good puff on his pipe awhile before settling into a new mars book by Edgar Rice Burroughs. In the morning, he would be sure to make sure his aviator gear with bullet proof vest and boots and goggles and so on, and wings were ready, along with his usual tools (bottle of pepper, knife, fire crackers, lighter, pipe and pipe tobacco, and gum balls). For some odd reason he packed a deck of playing cards as well. It would be a busy day tomorrow planning with everyone, and at some point he would need to call Carl and get him in on the plan as well...

Hour-Man and Captain Hawkman (and Sandman, Zatara, Doris West, Bart Regan, Spectre) Tuesday May 23, 1940, 8 am Philadelphia Dodge Mansion
Assembling the team in Philadelphia was easier with Sandman's secret out, and the four incoming teammates found their way to stately Dodge Mansion by various means.
The Spectre was floating just over the floor of the dining room, staring ahead, arms folded across his chest. "Take me there, to this den of evil. At the stroke of midnight, I will destroy it with fire and lightning."
"OR," Doris West said, sipping some coffee that the Sandman's butler had brought them, "We shut down power to the building before going in. That should eliminate Dr. Arman's ability to throw any super-science at us, unless it runs on its own power source..."
"Nice idea," Bart Regan said, glancing up from the local paper (the newspaper confirmed there had been no new armored car robberies last night). "The problem is that it also alerts them that something is happening before we strike. I say we send our sneakier members in, capture Dr. Arman, and force the rest to surrender."
"Which turns against you if there's a second in command they are even more loyal to," the Sandman said. "There are too many unknowns still. Reconnaissance wouldn't hurt, in theory...but the three of us got hurt last night trying it."
"I may be able to help with that," Doris said. "In the trunk of my car is a box of newly developed improved first aid kits, enough for each of us to carry one when we go in.*"
((*These First Aid Kits +1 will heal 2 hit points back when used. Discuss your plans!))
