All heroes awake in the morning. Charlie's customer, Dave arrives and pays him for the service. Dave is happy with the work done and promises future business for Charlie. As Charlie is making his last adjustments to Dave's bike, he notices in Dave's hands s is the morning paper and he sees two headlines that catches his eye.
The web in his civilian identity wakes up and has breakfast and heads to school. He is almost at the university when he hears from a paper boy announcing the news ( not sure if the web gets the morning paper).
Agent echo wakes up from his alley as he gets ready for his morning constitutional he hears a paper boy selling papers and announcing the hot news.
All heroes hear or briefly see the following: "Extra read all about it, Mystery men attack Simply Ming's restaurant." the next is "extra Extra read all about it, Bank of america 2nd branch robbed. Watchmen asleep and crooks took money, police baffled. "
As the paper boy announcing this, the Web sees a group of kids that were waiting for the bus instead are surrounding a fire escape. On the fire escape is a little girl trying to reach for a cat. The fire escape looks a little rusty and wobbles as the girl gets closer to the feline
As the paper boy is announcing, Agent echo sees Phyliss, one of the bag lady that is always friendly to Agent echo, passed out in the alley. When Echo moves over to her she is actually shaking and white foam is coming out of her mouth
Back in the shop, Dave asks, "hey if you are not busy want to come to the race. I will pay you for services to fix my bike after the race and cover your food and admission expenses. I am also bringing my kid so if you don't mind hanging out in the pit area.

The Agent, still in his civilian identity, moves quickly to see if he can assist in anyway.
"Mam, are you okay? What's going on?"
If she's having a seizure I'll try and help her settle down and get comfortable. If it's something worse I'll try and get her to a medical facility.

Charlie looked around his shop, and not seeing anything that needed to be done today said," Sure. L.A. County fairgrounds, right? Races start at two, so I'll meet you at the infield at one."
Before Charlie left, he put his Arrowhead costume on under his coveralls and left notes on his front window and back door that read," Out of the Shop. Racing at LA Fairgrounds today"

If The Web does not have a subscription to the LA Times, he gets one today.
John scanned the paper thoroughly, particularly the article about the restaurant attack. How could the headline possibly be "Mystery men attack Simply Ming's restaurant" and not "Mystery Men Break Up Drug Ring"? Did the article say nothing about all of the evidence that was left behind at the scene?

Scene one: Charlie finishes his morning task, closes the shop around twelve, takes his costume and heads to the fairgrounds for the race. He arrives at the entrance and is let in to the pit area. Dave sees Charley as asks him, "so you need something to eat. The trial runs went great and the bike did really well. This is my Son, Mike. Mike this is Charley the nice mechanic that fixed daddy's bike. While Daddy is racing you can stay here in the pit area to watch and you can stay here with Charley. " The eight year old kid holds out his hand in attempt to shake Charlies hands.
Scene two: Agent echo goes over to Phyliss and looks to be having some sort of attack possibly a seizure. Keeping her calm and still does not seem to be working. Agent echo picks her up and how is going to get her to a hospital. The nearest one is three blocks away, at LA General. There is a doctors office that is a block away?
Scene three: Professor Raymond parks his car and gets a newspaper from the paperboy. He also gets a subscription to the LA Times. After getting the subscription and the delivery times, Prof Raymond goes back to his car and reads the article. The article is not large, most of the focus is the war, Baseball and some business news. The article does not mention any evidence left behind and the only real evidence is the interview with the new manager of Simply Mings and with Sgt Harris, the police office in charge at the scene. Reading the article, the new manager, Hua Sing, says two masked man and a biker came in and ordered the employees to leave and then attacked former manager Mt Hoshi and his friends. There was fighting and mayhem and she fled to get the police. When she got back the masked man and the biker had fled. The police office is interviewed next and SGT Harris says that this is an on going investigation but he does admit that Mr Hoshi is dead. The end of the article asks questions who the biker is and who the masked men where? Where is their story? IS this a new gang or are these vigilantes? As the Professor turns the page he hears the children outside screaming as on a fire escape, accross the street the little girl has the cat but the fire escape now is wobbling considerably. The Professor's keen sight and insight determines that part of the escape is coming loose and can snap, possibly injuring the girl by having her fall or trapping her on the narrow ledge of the building. This new scene is just across the street. No other passerby has noticed this.

There was no time to switch into the Web costume that he kept in a briefcase in his car. He dropped the newspaper, ran across the street (as long as it was safe to do so), and called up to the girl: "It's alright, help is here! Stay where you are, little girl!" Quieter, he said to the children watching: "Who's parents have the tallest ladder among you? How far away is that? Go back home and tell your mother Professor John Raymond told you we need that ladder for an emergency. Everyone else, go help carry it. Get that ladder here in five minutes and I'll arrange your tardy excuse with your principal myself."

"Nice to meet you Mike," Charlie bent over and shook the kid's hand. "Good grip you got there." Charlie smiled and shook his hand like the kid bruised it.
The three were standing in the infield of the 5/8 mile dirt oval track. There were close to fifty bikes here, with the riders, mechanics and various hangers on. There were stands selling tacos and hot dogs, and lord knew what else. An announcer came over the loudspeakers and made everyone aware that the initial heat race was to start in exactly 40 minutes.
"What do you guys feel like having? I'm partial to tacos myself." Charlie said as they walked toward the vendors.

Scene one:Dave says, " I have already eaten but mike here has not. I need to make some last minute checks. " Mike says, "Charlie tacos sound great." Charley and Mike go to the stand and get taco's from Henry's tacos. Tacos is one of the new trends in Los Angeles. While waiting in line though Charlie sees Dave talking with a couple of well dressed men. The discussion looks a little heated and then one of them hands Dave, a Come Co-operative shopping bag and then both men walk away talking to each other. Dave looks into the bag and then quickly shuts it. It is hard to see what is in the bag but the bag looks full
Scene two: Agent echo picks up Phyllis gently and then runs to the Doctor's office. He finds the office, labeled Dr Young MD, and as he enters he sees the waiting room and even though it is early there are about three women with their kids. The receptionist, "Jan Margo" looks up from her desk and is about to say something but she sees Phyllis and Agent echo and says, "you have an appointment and can you afford the costs of the services?"
(OOC I made a Save VS Plot, based on the clothing and appearance of agent echo and Phyllis VS a chance the receptionist knew either one of you)
Scene three: Professor Raymond easily crosses the street and speaks with the trapped girl who is calmed down a bit but is still crying. The rest of the eight and nine year old children start to ask each other which daddy has a bigger ladder and a couple ask what a ladder is. Professor Raymond does know there is a fire station a block away and he remembers passing a hardware store, two doors down from the scene. The children are pleading the Professor to help the girl but none of them seem have an answer for the ladder.
(OOC rolling terribly for Save vs plot for a ladder from the kids)

((Sensible use of the save vs. plot mechanic. What floor is the girl on? What kind of building is this, a tenement house?))
If possible, John shouts "Stay right there and don't move!" up to the girl, enters the building through the front door, and goes to the door to whatever apartment or office is next to the girl. If he can't barge in (it's early, before 9, still), he pounds on the door and shouts "Please let me in, it's an emergency!"

Mike tried to stuff the whole taco into his mouth at once. Pieces of onion and spiced meat fell from his chin. "Yum!" he said.
"Easy champ," Charlie said. He held his own taco in one hand, two coke bottles were dangled by their necks from his other. "Let's go see what your dad's up to. Charlie didn't like the look of those two thugs and he wanted to know what was in that bag. Charlie and the boy walked over to Dave.
"What's up?" Charlie said. He looked around for the two suspicious characters. Surely they couldn't have disappeared yet.

Scene one: Eating the yummy tacos, the two men leave to their seats in the stands. It is not a huge race and Dave can see the well dressed men seated in the stands conversing with each other. Dave looks a little startled as you approach and asks mike how he likes the food. He then says to Charlie, "not much the bike is great and looks ready to go." Charley notices that Dave does carry a small tool box and is an amateur when it comes to mechanics, that is why he has Charlie fixed the bike. Charley can see the bag he saw before in his tool box and as Dave is putting away his wrench he slightly opens the bag to make the wrench fit in the box. With the slight opening of the bag, Charlie notices a roll of ten dollar bills wrapped in a rubber-band. Dave quickly shuts the tool box.
Scene two: Agent echo and a ailing Phyliss standoff with the obviously rude receptionist ....
Scene three: With some luck the building the girl is stranded on is a residential apartment building. He runs in the front door and speaks to a man, Albert who is the landlord. Upon hearing the Professors request, he leads the professor up the stairs and into the vacant apartment which has a fire escape where the girl is. Professor Raymond can see the girl trapped on the fire escape as the rear window is shut. The girl has the cat in her arms and they both look frightened.

John opened the rear window. "I'm here," he told the girl. "Hand me the cat, and then you come through. Everything is going to be okay."

Charlie moved so he was standing right by Dave."Hey, I saw the whole thing with those two goons. What's going on?" He whispered.
Charlie realized he'd have to check the bike over one more time, to make sure it hadn't been tampered with.
