Since the Cabalist was out of the room and Agent Lane had not come back after taking Andrew out to the car, that left Captain Avenger and The Leading Man to take the rifle shots. Unfortunately, these were marksmen with their rifles -- Captain Avenger was shot twice and The Leading Man was shot once. Luckily, the bullets struck nothing vital and both superheroes were made of stern stuff. They were made up of a little less blood now, though.

The caballist pulls out his wand and a pinch of multicolored sand. He aims it over to the group to try to effect as many mobsters as he can with his spell. He utters the magic words in his ancient gypsy Romani language.
( cast sleep at the mobsters)

Snarling a curse Cap fired back with his Colt .45.

The Heroes were thankful to still be alive!
Captain Avenger fired back with his Colt. 45, winging one of the riflemen, who dropped his gun and slumped to the floor.
The Leading Man's hasty shots missed.
The Cabalist was about to step into the doorway and cast his spell -- when the door to the north opened. The mobsters behind that door had heard the gunshots, apparently, and were coming to investigate. ((Does the Cabalist cast his spell to the north or to the south?))

((Not yet, CA, but you can move up to one.))
Captain Avenger moved further into the room, reaching a bunk bed he could use for cover.
The Cabalist's spell went off. The spell was largely successful -- all but two people in the room were put to sleep by the magical enchantment. One of the non-sleeping people was one of the mobsters who was unarmed and looked like he was ready to surrender. Another was one of the two remaining riflemen.
Captain Avenger was, unfortunately, too close to the spell and was caught in its effect. He too slumbered.
Two mobsters were approaching The Cabalist now from the north, both of them were armed with revolvers. "Don't make a move, stranger!" one of them called out to The Cabalist.
Just then, Agent Lane returned from the passage to the west into the room the Cabalist was in.

The caballist says to the remaining two men in the south room and the two coming up behind me " surrender now or I will use more magic that will make you helpless. " He sees the agent lane and says " stop these two men behind me." He does move into the south room trying to find some cover.

The Leading Man turned with his gun on the men demanding the Cabalist surrender.
"Give up you goons," he said.

The Cabalist's bluff worked -- of the two remaining mobsters, the one with a rifle threw it down and put up his hands, and the unarmed one fainted!
In the room to the north, The Leading Man and Agent Lane found they were about to be outnumbered. Besides the two men emerging from the north door, both with semi-automatic rifles, there was at least one more mobster coming up behind them.
Agent Lane added to The Leading Man's command. "We're FBI! Surrender!"
But these guys were cocky. "No, you surrender!" one of them shouted as he took aim with his rifle at Agent Lane.
Agent Lane fired first, but it was a hasty shot and missed the rifleman. The rifleman returned fire and hit Lane, seriously wounding him.

The Cabalist recovered a dropped rifle and slapped Captain Avenger awake.
"Hey..." said the one prisoner still standing. "You mean, all I have to do is slap these guys and they'll wake up...?" He was glancing nervously back and forth at the Heroes and his friends on the floor.
Meanwhile, in the room to the north, The Leading Man took a shot at the man who shot Lane and just missed. Glancing to the north door, he had a new tally for their adversaries -- two here in the room with him, plus now two on the other side of the north door, watching and waiting.

Rising up suddenly and leveling his pistol at the thug, he said, "You will take a much longer sleep if you move and inch".

"Lem" decided to change the situation. He lowered his shoulder and charged toward the doorway and into the north room. Along the way, hidden mechanical motors revved up and when he hit the doorframe, having misaimed, he smashed through part of the wall into the next room, catching the two thugs by surprise.
((Break things - charge through wall)).
