The Leading Man's mouth hung agape at the sight of true magic. They sure hadn't taught Sergeant Lem Meeker about that in Basic nor had he seen anything like it in all his days. Lem just sat there shocked for a few minutes before saying, "Hu...hu...how did you do that? Is that stick a magic wand?"

Andrew had sat staring, mouth hung open, as the Cabalist worked his magic. He only stopped gaping when the g-man came over to challenge him.
"Well," Andrew started. "There are some things you don't know about me."
Don't do it kid.
"You see, my uncle Jack... it's probably better if I just show you."
You're making a mistake. You don't want to get caught up with this lot. Sounds like a dangerous business without any payoff at the end.
Andrew ignored Jack, closed his eyes, and without truly knowing what he was doing, he willed his uncle out, thrusting himself away.
Where Andrew had been standing a moment before, there was now a man, a pale glow emanating from his body, his features indistinct.
"What are you jamokes looking at," said Orpheus Jack.

It had been a minor miracle -- a bruised cheek and a split lip on Agent Murphy's face mending before their eyes -- but it had been surprising enough. But even that was nothing compared to Andrew's surprise.

Howard says " wow that is something you don't see every day. As far as magic I can cast this naturally. The wand helps casting my magic but technically I don't need it. I was trained by my mother but technically I am still a beginner. She was very powerful but now she is in a different time and dimension and I hope one day I can find her. "
Seeing the ghost he says " you control it? How did this happen?"

Didn't teach me this at the agency, Rick thought. Oh well beggars can't be choosers and I need all the help I can get.
"Well, Agent Murphy said, looks like we got ourselves a team. Might as well come forth myself", and saying that stripped out his outer clothes and appeared to everyone as Captain Avenger.

Luckily, no nurses or doctors were in the room with them at this time any of these revelations occurred.
Since each man had to wait for that privacy to stage their exciting revelations, considerable time was passing. Indeed, it was now almost 10 at night, and there were just two hours left until the second FBI agent would be scheduled to arrive.

"Don't nobody control me," said Orpheus Jack. "The kid apparently wants to throw in with your sorry lot. I don't see it, but he's got a soft heart. Now, I'm just gonna say this once: any of you gets him hurt and so help me, I will-"
There was a sudden flash and the ghostly visage was gone, replaced by Andrew.
"Sorry about that. Jack can get a little... colorful at times."
You ain't seen nothing yet, kid.

Somehow The Leading Man had produced a thick stogie and had it clamped tight in his teeth. Though one could still see his matinee idol good looks, the transformation that his acting skill brought forth was quite remarkable. He affected a bored expression but there was a wildness around his eyes that bespoke his true response to these revelations.
"What's next, the Easter Bunny?"

The Easter Bunny never came.
By 10:30, Andrew realized his mother would be awfully worried about him by now.
By midnight, Captain Avenger was 100% good as new.
At 12:39 am, they were finally joined by the FBI agent. A blonde man in a dark suit with a yellow-striped tie came up to Agent Murphy and showed his FBI credentials. "Agent Murphy, I'm Agent Lane. I understand you have a serious problem here. Care to fill me in?"
After being told about the Silver Shirts, the threat on the train station, the suspicious super-criminals hunting them, and the caves up north, Agent Lane said. "That's a lot to take in! Now...what do you want me to do to help?"

During the two hour Howard relaxes and takes a nap trying to get back his magical energy. He waits for the next plan of action.

The Leading Man used the time spent waiting to see if he could scrounge up a suitable set of fatigues. And a rifle if he could find one. It would not do for a soldier to go into the field dressed in a monkey suit and without a reliable weapon.

Captain Avenger mused on all this for a minute.
"Okay, first off we need provisions for this hike in the mountains. Then if we have any maps of the area we are heading into we should get that too to make a plan of attack. After that we should start getting ready to take care of these Nazi bastards!"
"And somebody get me a goddamn cup of coffee!"

"Lem Meeker" just shook his head before speaking up from the corner where he had been cleaning his boots. "Captain, I already requisitioned the supplies. They're all waitin' back at the hotel. We just have ta swing by and collect 'em."

The Leading Man used the time spent waiting to see if he could scrounge up a suitable set of fatigues. And a rifle if he could find one. It would not do for a soldier to go into the field dressed in a monkey suit and without a reliable weapon. The Leading Man, through sheer moxie, was able to talk an officer into getting him an insignia-less camouflage combat uniform and -- while no one would give him a military grade rifle, he was offered a standard issue semi-automatic pistol. The Leading Man had already worked out the route to the mountains and knew it would be a five-hour drive. If they left now, they could be in the mountains by 6 am. Most of them could rest in the car instead of sleeping, but whoever drove would be too tired for fighting in the morning. The next issue was, did they have a car? The Cabalist had come by car, as had Agent Lane. (( rolls: 7+2, 6+2))
