Okay...don't run off just yet, Bob -- I have one last option left to throw out there. Instead of being front line commandos, what if you were stationed in a little town in Occupied France? We would come up with a reason for each of you why you were there and were not on a timetable to leave. We would still have the backdrop of the war and the chance of running into Nazis, but you would be free to explore in and around the town and discover secret dangers there.
This was actually the campaign idea I was advertising online I wanted to run two years ago...

I don't know Scott I just did the rebel freedom fighter with Ragnar in the home campaign. I am OK with maybe going there now and then maybe dealing with the japeneese instead of Nazis. Otherwise a stateside campaign is always fun.

Well what kind of game do you want to play in? I don't really care, I just want to play a superhero.

I've got too much invested in Captain Neptune's origin and backstory as set in the Great Lakes area to be able to switch him out to a new location. I'd have to create another character for an Occupied France setting. Had the idea to search Golden Age French heroes for an appropriately obscure character to perhaps adapt (research is half the fun!). Checked out: www.coolfrenchcomics.com/timeline.htmNot much to work with. Fulgurus, Radarius, Salvator, Satanax, Atomas, and Mister X looked like the best options, though none of them were quite what I was looking for--and the publication years run up to 1948 (since strangely not a lot of superhero comics were being published in France circa 1943...). Also, the pulp fiction hero Nyctalope looked like a promising template to design around, though other than having crazy night vision and an artificial heart, his exact abilities were a bit hard to pin down from that page. More research would be needed. For a vs the Japanese game, I'd go to Australian comics (which have a lot of late '40's and early '50's heroes to work with--already researched those for another game and have even bought some back issues). Back in the Minneapolis setting, David Jones reason for not being drafted is easy--he's got white hair, a long white beard, and according to what little documentation can be found, he is about a hundred years old! Probably didn't even get a registration card.

Hrmm. From a little later in the timeline, I kind of like Uhu-Man. He's one of those advertisement superheroes. Uses a specific brand of glue to fight crime! I could easily see retro-fitting him into the scientist who invents a super-glue before the War, then gets trapped by the Occupation and uses his invention to fight. Later, he either founds the company that markets a toned down version of his invention, or his estate uses a modified version of his formula. That company commissions the comic book advertisements featuring a fictionalized version of the company's heroic founder! Not entirely sure how to work that with the H&H system, but I kind of like the general idea.
1970 has "Le Pilote Noir"--who is a straight up Aviator. He could be retro-fitted to use period appropriate vehicles easily enough.

I was willing to embrace whatever campaign idea would make everyone happy, but that isn't working out. And there's no way I can run four different solo campaigns.
What I really wanted to do was keep it simple -- run one hideout scenario that would constitute about 75% of the campaign, with metropolis (Minnesota-based) adventure and intrigue going on for the other 25%. I'll even warn you up front what I wanted to run -- the 1978 White Dwarf magazine scenario, "The Lichway", converted to H&H.
So, unless someone else can suggest a campaign idea that everyone else can get behind, I'm going to pull back to my original offer.

Okay so Captain Avenger is a homefront super agent who is investigating spies and fifth columnist. Geez people stop being so picky!

Reminder: Captain Avenger is ready to go. The Cabalist is finished, but isn't in the hero record folder yet. Captain Neptune sounds well-fleshed out, but I haven't seen finished stats for him yet. And our fourth hero...Rons was leaning towards an aviator last I heard, but I haven't seen any finished stats for him yet either.

I've been holding off on finishing my character until we settled on what sort of campaign we were playing. The aviator idea was more aimed at the war game. I might go in a different direction if we end up in Minnesota.

Next reminder:
Major - you're good! Dt - post the Cabalist in the Campaign Play folder. Bob - are you still going to play Captain Neptune? How close are you to being done? Rons - close to settling on a hero concept? Going back to the superhero we discussed?
