This was the Fall 2013 issue of TTC, with 19 pages of content. Its cover is one of my least professional-looking ones and, while it has many flaws, the Hitler mustache on Major Magus is probably my least favorite part.
My editorial talks about my disappointment with experimenting with Pay What You Want. I've tried limited time offers of Pay What You Want on my books twice now and almost everyone treats it as a chance to get the product for free.
I was still having a great time with doing the Major Magus stories back then and was impressed with how my own art skills kept improving from issue to issue, as I was drawing more than I had been in years.
The Mobster Spotlight feature includes three new mobster-types. One, the bloodthirsty hoodlum, was once added to Book II (it's back out now, waiting to see if I keep the bloodthirsty hoodlum in 2nd ed.).
I had a lot of accumulated questions from Allen Trembone by then to fill a big Q&A section. I thought it was interesting that both Steve Lopez and Allen were after me for not including Hawkman in Supplement IV, and they both offered to stat him for me. My wife now plays a third version of Hawkman's stats, that started out as a cross between both of their versions (now Hawkman, in play, is a 7th level Fighter, upgraded to wearing platemail armor and fighting with a sub-machine gun in one hand and a magic sword in the other). Lastly, Allen had some original Heroes I published.
On my end I put together the Detective class, something I'd been toying with for some time. It's never been playtested, but I like it and it might eventually find a place in 2nd edition.
Steve Miller of Nuelow Games was so amenable to being reviewed that he sent me some cover art to illustrate the article with and did a Q&A with me too. This led to some official H&H material winding up in a couple of Nuelow Games products later.
