"Don't worry, Gertrude," said Desmo, though somewhat half-heartedly as Gertrude was all eyes on Rex.
Rex was a man of surprises, so if he knew something about wolves, Desmo believed him. Desmo planned on firing a warning shot in the air to scare it if Rex was iin any danger to scare it off, but it would be best to get the wolf relocated to the wilderness at some point.
But, this Gertrude could be more of a danger than the wolf! Not good to have her nosing around too much, he thought, especially seeing as how keen she already seemed to be with Rex.
"I had my fun with Doris," thought Desmo. "But she's an agent - like me. As far as I know, this Gertrude is just a civilian... Though I'm not one-hundred percent sure... Well, before she and Rex get too close, he and I need some kind of fake or cover business to keep the warehouse low profile - legitimate looking..."

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo Thursday May 18, 1940, 12:17 pm Appleton Justice Society Headquarters
Rex Tyler stepped out the front door to go confront the wolf - but the wolf was now right in front of him, and trying to shove past him to get inside!

Desmo opened a window preparing to fire a warning shot in the air, and will do so if Hour-man can't hold the wolf back.

Rex still a civilian saw the wolf trying to get inside but it was not growling nor snarling so maybe not hostile. Rex said " Gertrude step behind the desk. Desmo before we not draw too much attention with a gunfire lets see what this creature wants. It sort of followed me home last night at the radio station project I was working on. It did not attack me or tried to break into my home. SO I am a little curious."

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo Thursday May 18, 1940, 12:18 pm Appleton Justice Society Headquarters
Hour-Man, curious, stepped aside.
The wolf lunged into the warehouse.
Captain Desmo, watching for the wolf at the window, spun around when he heard it snarling in the front office.
Hour-Man and Captain Desmo saw the wolf leap onto Gertrude and knock her down! It looked like Gertrude was going to get mauled to death, only she grabbed the wolf's jaws and held them back while she struggled to get back on her feet. In their struggle, they knocked the new desk over!

Rex moves over and noticed the woman trying to defend herself from the wolf. Surprising she has been around canines before or has self defense training. Rex moves over and tries to get the wolf off her. Rex says, " easy boy not sure why you are trying to harm her. There was no danger and I don't know why you attacked her."
Without activating his powers he will use his natural strength to pull the wolf off, not to harm it but to move it.

Desmo put his gun away, and moved quickly around to the woman, and once Rex freed her from the wolf, he would escort her out making sure she was unhurt and ask her not to come back until they get the park authorities in to relocate the wolf. Normally he would do the gallant thing and offer to escort the woman back to her workplace, but under the circumstances, he felt it better to simply see Gertrude off and go back in keep an eye on the wolf with Rex.
Though it did seem rather odd the wolf took an unnatural liking to Rex.... If Rex got that wolf calmed down without that woman around, he wondered if there was some way to check if this was just an ordinary wolf....

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo Thursday May 18, 1940, 12:19 pm Appleton Justice Society Headquarters
It was clearly not an ordinary wolf. With Hour-Man at normal strength, the wolf was able to trip him and pin him to the floor, then growled a horribly loud growl in his face. "GRRAAAAAAA!"
During the distraction, Gertrude picked up the chair from behind the desk, rushed the wolf, and smashed the chair to pieces over its head. "RAAARRR!" she screamed as she attacked.
The wolf, barely phased by it, jumped off of Hour-Man and turned to face off against Gertrude again, who now had a sharp wooden stake in each hand.

Desmo drew his gun and shot the wolf in the behind to maim rather than kill the poor wild abnormally strong wild wolf, and perhaps spare it wholesale slaughter by Gertrude.

Rex stopped and noticed she made stakes with the chair. He commented in some earth humor, " you know Gertrude you or your store will be billed for the cost of the chair. " Rex then tries to interpose himself between Gertrude and the wolf and yells, " what in Transylvania supernatural event is going on. Stakes to attack a wolf? Why are you attacking her? "

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo Thursday May 18, 1940, 12:20 pm Appleton Justice Society Headquarters
BANG!
Captain Desmo tried to put a bullet in the wolf's behind, but the wolf and Gertrude were both moving targets. Erring too much in shooting away from Gertrude, Desmo missed the wolf's derriere by five inches.
The wolf spun around, lunged for Desmo, tripped him, pinned him, and nipped his shoulder with big, fearsome teeth ((only 1 point of damage, though!)).
At the same time, Gertrude ignored Hour-Man's efforts to get her to stop and explain. She continued yelling what sounded like a battle cry and she stabbed the wolf from behind with one of the stakes of wood.
The wolf yelped in pain, jumped off of Captain Desmo, and backed away from Gertrude.
Gertrude, finally, turned and glanced at Hour-Man. The rage melted from her face and she looked timid and scared. "Oh please, help me against this fearsome wolf!"

rex says, " gertrude get to the door and flee. I and Desmo will try to stall it. " Rex trying not to use his powers and keep his identity too the remainder of the chair to defend himself if the wolf attacked. There was something fishy here while Gertrude may have had an adrenalin rush this seemed strange.
(OOC: question Hour-man is from the future has he heard of werewolves with future heroes and villain lore or this too much of a reach)

"Hey, wolf! Come here!" yelled Desmo trying to flip their work table on its side and push it in front of the wolf to ideally block the wolf off in a corner. At least maybe this plan would give Gertrude a moment to use the door to exit while the wolf? focused its attention on Desmo...

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo Thursday May 18, 1940, 12:21 pm Appleton Justice Society Headquarters
Gertrude seemed reluctant to leave, but after both of them tried to shoo her out, she backed up to the front door and ran outside.
The wolf was held at bay by Hour-Man's body and Captain Desmo's table. It looked back and forth between the front door and Rex, then turned, and quickly jumped through a high window, in a different wall, like a super-powered cricket.
The two heroes were alone in their HQ now, free to follow either one, or remain and discuss, hoping to make sense of what had just happened.

( waiting for OOC response if Rex needs to change this post)
Rex says, " quickly we must make sure the wolf does not circle back and attack gertrude. After that we really should talk as both of us I am assuming have some recent news and of course I could use a beverage."
