"Great to see you, men." said Desmo catching his breath. "Couldn't have got this far without the Spectre. Now we better search the sarcophaguses quickly in case Hobbes is imprisoned in one, and also check what's left of these men. And that man, is unfortunately, our prisoner."

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery Catacombs 8:38 pm
The four assassins the Spectre had reduced to skeletons with that fireball had nothing of value left on them.
None of the sarcophagi contained Hobbs. Instead, they found the decayed corpses of Asian-Americans in each one. Two were women wearing what appeared to be some valuable jewelry...of course, looting a cemetery was ethically problematic.
((There are four ways to explore from here. Consider the north passage closest to the stairs to be 1, and the unexplored areas numbered clockwise from there. Where to next...?))

Hourman has a flashlight out and says " so where did the bad-guys come from. Lets stay together and be on our guard. Those jewelry look nice but we really should not loot from the dead."

((OOC: What happened to this assassin? If he is still alive, he would be the teams prisoner...))
"Loot the dead?!" exclaimed Desmo. "Wouldn't dream of it, Hourman. I was looking for Hobbes! Now, some of the men were already here, but reinforcement came through the West door. As soon as we figure out what to do with our prisoner, we better start there. We don't have much time to lose..."

((Good call!))
The lone prisoner - though he would not be a prisoner for long, as he was perhaps seconds from death -- was searched. The man was carrying mundane items, iike a cigarette lighter and pack of cigarettes, but he also wore a silver amulet and silver ring that Captain Desmo knew were symbols of the assassins (the amulet etched with the Mongolian word for death, "ükhel."
Before they headed through the west doorway, the Spectre held up a hand to stop them. "I heard something. There are still people in that room," he whispered.

Hour-man stops and waits for a general plan. He did bring the ancient sword he got from the Kentucky adventure.

The Spectre added a peculiar warning. "The spells I have remaining can decimate large numbers of our opponents...but are not good for surgical strikes that would spare your friend, if present. I shall have to hang back from here."
"Hopefully my spell selection shall suffice, then," Zatara said.
"I can skip going in with guns blazing too," Bart said. "Lucky I brought these," he added, holding up his fists.

"Thanks fellows for coming in. I'm a little more brave than hearty, and as you can see I'm not doing my best. But I still have this," said Desmo waving his gun in one hand and a string of fireworks in the other. "Why don't we take them by surprise, and give it our best."

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery Catacombs 8:35 pm
Despite the loud fighting, the Heroes were confident that they would be able to take the next group of assassins by surprise. Moving only by the light of cigarette lighters, to keep giving themselves away with bright light out of the equation, they crept through just 10' of 10' wide passageway before it opened up into a second large chamber (though they could not see its dimensions yet, they could tell its size by how the sound of their own steps sounded).
Captain Desmo and Hour-Man were in the lead -- when they were each attacked, struck by blows to the back of the head!
((My dice hate you again - the assassins got surprise and landed successful head blows on both of you! Hour-Man takes 10 points of damage and Captain Desmo takes 5, and goes down, unconscious!))
Hour-Man reeled. Captain Desmo hit the floor. Zatara flicked on a flashlight. Everyone saw two assassins in their midst, a 30' x 40' crypt, and a gagged Hobbs chained to the far wall!
((Hour-Man is still up, but slowly repairing from old injuries, is now down to just 4 hp. Tim, you can take over Bart Regan for the remainder of this scenario. Hopefully you all win!))

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery Catacombs 8:37 pm
Things began to move quickly, all at the same time. Hour-Man activated his hour of power and, at least at first, went full-defense, easily blocking the knife of one of the assassins. Bart moved in close to one of the assassins, blocking the man's knife, and got in a decent punch ((2 dmg)).
From out of nowhere, policemen began swarming into the entrance of the room behind them, though that happened right after Zatara looked like he was casting a spell.
Confused and heavily outnumbered - the assassins put up their hands to surrender!

That Zatara had to do with the police showing up was evident from his rejecting Hour-Man's suggested course of action. "Sorry, but I'm a little preoccupied..." Zatara said, while staring at the police and concentrating.
"Now, we put them to death, or free your friend," the Spectre suggested as two courses of action.
