Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery Catacombs 8:47 pm
The assassins began to turn the tide...
Zatara did as Hour-Man suggested and backed out of the melee. But double-teamed now, Hour-Man could only block one blade as the other found a non-invulnerable area between Hour-Man's ribs and stuck the blade through. Hour-Man felt the stabbing pain, saw the synthetic blood on his costume - and would have lost consciousness had it not been for his super-tough skin. It was a serious wound, but not so deep ((2 hp left)). Though injured, Hour-Man still managed to get in a punch, taking down the most injured of his two opponents, but the other was still hale and hearty.
Bart was in the same situation; he blocked one assassin, but the other one got him. In his case, he was already seriously hurt, and he slumped to the floor ((0 hp, but only stunned)).
Zatara had reached Captain Desmo when he saw Bart go down. He changed his mind and began casting a spell.
Hobbes was joined by the Spectre in trying to land punches on the sole assassin they were fighting, but that guy was good at defensive maneuvers and his flashing saber was always between them.
Zatara's spell was Sleep - it was a risky move, since there was no telling how many it would effect.
It put Hobbes to sleep.
It also dropped three of the remaining four assassins. The only one left was face-to-face with the Spectre.
The Spectre lurched forward, hands outstretched - and the remaining assassin broke into a run into the previous chamber. That was the chamber where the Spectre had transported Akhim into a sarcophagus.
The Spectre cast his last combat spell, dropping a Cloudkill into that room.
((No need to give me intentions at this point, unless you want to. I won't have time to post tomorrow, but on Friday I will post an epilogue and award XP!))

Hour-man peels himself off the ground and says, " i can carry the captain easily. Hobbs or spectre grab bart and lets get out of here before reinforcements or their leader comes back. We live to fight another day."

Hobbes would help move Bart, unless he was still under the affect of the sleep spell...

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery Catacombs 9:00 pm Hobbes was slapped lightly until he woke up. It was definitely scary to see the Spectre was the one slapping him! Hour-Man was insistent that they needed to escape before reinforcements came, but the Spectre said that was not necessary. "Genghis Akhim is even now trapped in the very chamber he had tried to trap us, and whatever gas was in that room is now replaced with a far deadlier cloud created by my spell." "But one did escape, through that north exit*," Zatara said, while he was administering first aid to Captain Desmo. ((*I had previously said the fleeing assassin fled into the adjoining chamber, which is the trap room, but I forgot that I also said the sliding wall slammed back down after Hour-Man rolled under it. I'm retconning it to say he fled through the next closest exit. See attached and updated map on this post!)) After five minutes of first aid administering, Hour-Man finally convinced Zatara to stop and help him move everyone out. "Let's at least not leave empty handed," Zatara said. "Our first prisoner had a silver ring and amulet on him. We now have seven prisoners here..." It was true; all seven of them wore identical jewelry, all of excellent quality. It was all pocketed. Then Hour-Man, Zatara, the Spectre, and Hobbes helped carry Captain Desmo and Bart Regan (each outstretched between two people) out of the catacombs and back into the cemetery. Almost 9 o'clock in May meant the cemetery was dark when they emerged. They made good time back to the cars for the next three minutes. It was now 9 o'clock exactly, when the last threatening letter had promised Hobbes would die. Hobbes stopped and had to put his end of Captain Desmo down. "I'm not feeling too well..." he said. ((I found time to post after all tonight!))

HOur-man gasped, "great scott poison. I wish I had access to the lab so I can get an antidote. Depending on distance with my enhanced speed I can rush Hobbes to a hospital. If you use my kit to first aid the other one."
( editor question: with the remaining time w race the train and with the enhanced strength can he make it from the cemetery to the hospital?)

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery Catacombs 9:02 pm
Hour-Man picked up Hobbes and, before Hobbes could protest, sped at super-speed out of the catacombs. It would take 7-8 minutes to run the 3 miles north to Brooklyn Hospital.
Before leaving the cemetery, they almost literally stumbled into a group of six Asian men, half dressed casual and carrying rifles, the others dressed all in black and holding sabers. As Hour-Man sped out the other side of their gathering, two of the riflemen decided to take potshots at him. BANG! BANG! They missed.

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Brooklyn Hospital 9:12 pm
Hour-Man decided to ignore these assassins for now and treat Hobbes as his priority. He sped out of the cemetery and followed main north-south arteries through the borough until he reached the hospital. Hobbes was still conscious, but feeling like he was really sick. Despite Hour-Man's queer costume, the attendants saw to it that Hobbes was rushed to the emergency room.
Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery 9:02 pm
Captain Desmo woke up ((1 hp)). He was on the ground, outside, in the dark, though he could see the silhouette of shrubs, trees, and tombstones around him. He was still in the cemetery. And Zatara was leaning over him, with a shushing finger to his lips.
"We made it out of there with Hobbes," Zatara whispered. "He's not doing so good, though, and Hour-Man rushed him to the hospital. We won, but just barely. Bart is behind me, unconscious. Akhim is dead, but there are still more of his assassins about. The Spectre is leading six of them away from us. As soon as you can stand I need you to help me carry Bart to the car so we can get him to the hospital too."

Hour-man gives the attending nurse Hobbes name and makes sure he is safe before heading back using his remainder speed to go back to the cemetary.
(OOC Hour-man would have given the hospital where he was running in case this city has multiple ones)

Desmo caughed and blearily said, "Akhim.... dead..? Hobbes! Is he okay?..." He staggered with his head still spinning to see if he could help Bart.

((There are over 100 hospitals in Appleton; Brooklyn Hospital probably wasn't even the closest, but it was the biggest close hospital.
((That's all I can post tonight. I will try to move everyone forward through our session's epilog in the morning!))

Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery 9:30 pm
Bart Regan's clothes were slashed up and covered in his own blood; he clearly needed more medical attention than just a first aid kit.
By the time Hour-Man returned to the cemetery, the roving group of six assassins were no where to be found. When the Spectre caught up to them, he confirmed this.
"They had a feeling that something was up. They retrieved a packset* they had stashed, tried to contact someone, and when they got no response they split up and left, taking the packset with them."
"I would not overly worry about them," Zatara said. "They are leaderless now, and no threat to us as an organization anymore."
Regan was driven to the same hospital where Hobbes was.
Hour-Man and Captain Desmo (and Bart Regan, Zatara, and Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Brooklyn Hospital 9:45 pm
Hobbes seemed fine now. The doctors had pumped his stomach, just in case. "I think they slipped me something when they brought me something to eat and drink earlier," Hobbes explained. "Careless of me, I suppose, to accept it from my captors, but I was powerfully thirsty..."**
The Spectre had disappeared just as they were all going into the hospital. Captain Desmo and Zatara were not as bad off as Regan, but could have used some medical attention too. Rex Tyler, the Hour-Man, could try hospital care, but this adventure had reminded him how badly he needed to find a scientist he could trust with a lab that would help him recover faster.
*((A packset is what a portable radio would have been called at this time.)) **((Actually, Hobbes made his initial saving throw vs. poison. All my best rolls were for saving throws of late!))

Hourman would make sure Hobbes is ok under care and made sure bart is checked in. Hour-man would call Doris in the morning to inform her about Bart. He also would do some rest and if possible use the lab he works at for better care if possible. Maybe do a little overtime if allowed.

Captain Desmo made sure everyone else was getting medical attention that needed it. After checking on Hobbes, Desmo finally got medical attention himself thinking he better tool up and bring his wings next time...
Desmo wondered if trapped or crushed in the tomb really meant the last of Akhim... after all, no one actually saw him die... He wondered...
