The spectre remains quiet and will listen for trouble. He does try to remember where the exit was and also the front gate of the cemetery.
(OOC : if the spectre goes ethereal does he need light to see?) (ooc: for dimensional portal is it just the spectre or can he bring someone with him. Plus do you need to see the location of the exit of the portal or can you guess. Making sure is the AD&D dimension door spell)
Meanwhile, Hourman rejoins the others and waits.
(does Hourman or the others see the crypt get sealed or is someone sealing them in?)

Desmo cursed his lack of foresight for not getting a lantern or a flashlight. "If there were only some magic light that could help me," muttered Desmo in a subtly suggestive way hoping that Spectre had made it in and had some brilliant spell to cast the tomb ablaze in light.... Desmo reached for his gun in his right hand, and for his lighter in his other hand. Using the lighter quickly, Desmo tried to at least make his way to a wall to feel his way along and choose a direction to go...

Captain Desmo (and the Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery 8:21 pm
As before, the passage under the mausoleum was 10' wide, 9' high, and composed of smooth slabs of stone. The passage ran north for 30'. In those last 10' was a T-intersection, where the passage turned left and right.
By the light of the lighter, CD could see maybe 5-6' in front of him, so what lay down by side passages was a mystery. Also a mystery was...where were all the assassins? And where down here was Hobbs?

Desmo took note of the features and headed to the right wall before pocketing his lighter. With gun drawn, Desmo slowly felt his way along until he came to the T-junction.

Captain Desmo (and the Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery 8:22 pm
Following the right hand wall, and only being able to see a few feet in front of him, Captain Desmo led the way. At the T, he turned right and followed the wall for just 10' more -- when a bright electric light shone in his face, momentarily blinding him. In that moment, he could hear feet rushing towards him and, When he could see again, three Chinese men in Western-style suits were attacking him! Two held long knives, while the third stood 5' back, waiting with a revolver.
((The Spectre was momentarily blinded too. Combat intentions?))

Desmo tried to shoot 1 of the knife men, and kick the other knife man in the direction of the the 3rd one with the revolver.

Captain Desmo (and the Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery Catacombs 8:23 pm
It was a good plan. Captain Desmo was good. The assassins were better. While CD was blocking the first knife, he was stabbed and seriously hurt by the other knife ((down to 1 hp, yikes!)).
Meanwhile ((since Darren gave me no intentions)), the invisible Spectre went up to the revolver-holding assassin at the rear and began intoning a Charm Person in his ear. But before he could finish, the assassin screamed.
"Ahh! I think a ghost is casting a spell on me!" he guessed with uncanny accuracy.
The other two stopped what they were doing at once. "A ghost? Are you sure?"
"I'm not sticking around to find out!" said the gunman, who circled around the combat and began running into the dark in the direction CD hadn't taken at the T-intersection.
"Wait for us!" the two knifemen yelled, and they backed away from the combat.

Captain Desmo thought is was better to attend to his wound rather than fire after them with his gun and possibly alert more enemies. It was a lucky break they thought the Spectre was a ghost (although Desmo wasn't entirely sure he wasn't!), and he thanked the Spectre.
Desmo took off his flight jacket and tore the sleeve off of one his shirt arms to fashion a cloth to tie around his wound (presumably on one of his arms?). He intermittently used his lighter to see the wound and do the wrapping carefully. Then he put his flight jacket back on in the dark and made sure he was up against the wall again to feel his way along.
"Maybe it's better we see what else is down here, and not follow them for now." said Desmo. "Let's continue down the right corridor."

The spectre says, " Captain your fight does not need to end here. Let me see those wounds. " The spectre casts cure wounds 2 on the captain

"What? How did you...?" exclaimed Desmo. "Well, I feel much better. Thank you good man. Maybe we should go left and teach those knife men a thing or two."
This time Desmo put his gun back in its holster, and pulled out his jar of pepper (with the lid still closed) to throw it in anyone's face who dares try to knife him again.

Captain Desmo (and the Spectre) Sunday, May 7 1940 Appleton City Greenwood Cemetery Catacombs 8:24 pm
Captain Desmo felt better than ever ((the spell would have healed back 8 hp, 1 more than CD needed)). Emboldened, he led the Spectre in pursuit of the three fleeing assassins.
West from the T-intersection, the passage went just 10' before an intersection where he could go straight or to the right. But he could hear voices from straight ahead, echoing in a large chamber. And then he could see light coming from that chamber.
The chamber was 25' wide, 12' high, and 40' long. It was an enormous crypt, mostly empty space, with a sarcophagus in each corner and a cenotaph at the center of the room. Though the crypt looked old, it was modern enough to have electric lights mounted in the walls, and they had been switched on.
Standing around the cenotaph were the three men they had followed here, plus three men more, all Asian, dressed in silk robes instead of modern garb. One was dressing down the aforementioned three. "You would call yourself assassins? You initiates are unworthy, allowing yourselves to be spooked like that. You have allowed Captain Desmo to survive. We shall rectify that now."
"Look! It is he!" said another, pointing at Captain Desmo.
((New combat intentions?))

The spectre who is behind the Captain whispers, " i can show these fools what true justice is but they will probably perish. I can aid you with a spell to take these out one by one. I could get the others. Decision?"

"Fair enough, good fellow." said Desmo putting his jar of pepper in his left hand and pulling his gun out with his right hand. "I'll attack whoever is closest, and deal justice directly with you."
Desmo quickly fired his gun, and was ready to throw his pepper at whoever rushes at him.

The spectre is considering his ball of fire but that would reveal his presence or cast protection from evil on the captain. If the protection spell will not break the invisibility spell he will cast this on the captain
Meanwhile the others are how far from the cemetary. Since Hourman knows where the entrance is, he would have a crowbar with him or shovel to reopen the door, if it is closed.
