We can discuss any subjects here pertaining to setting up the campaign or the game mechanics, like...
Are we playing by 1st edition or 2nd edition? There was a reference to superheroes being 2nd level so they can use their powers which sounds like 1st edition (superheroes get powers right away in 2nd edition).

Yeah. Sadly I don't have the 2nd edition yet. It's one of the "necessary books" I'll be ordering Friday. My kind of vague notion is to do 1st edition for this early phase, then, move to 2nd edition for a later '60's but still pre Cockrum flavored Legion homage. Advanced, down the road, would be the onset of the '70's and Cockrum's redesigns. It's really just a gimmick, but I find it amusing. (and I already have the 1st edition books, so...)

If the man wants to get some use out of his 1st edition books, he should get to use his 1st edition books...
I do have some more questions and comments, though.
In one of the supplements I introduced the optional rule for ability score advancement at the time of leveling. Will that be in play?
One thing to consider about the alien race: there are two ways of looking at the alien race. One is the Superman model, where the alien is super-powerful all the time. The other is the John Carter model, where you're an alien with special abilities only on certain worlds. A benefit of running an interplanetary campaign, then, is that we may all get the chance to enjoy the alien's game mechanic bonuses at some point in the campaign.

A 30th century cowboy would be a pretty cool concept...

Experience Points -- are we all starting at the same number, or the minimum for 2nd level?

Classes like Aviator and Cowboy would make fine supporting characters, but you have to have a genuine superpower to get into the Pantheon itself. I have no problem with the optional rule. Advancement is likely to be slow enough that it won't be a problem, and I think some reward for the amount of writing involved in this sort of thing is in order. I think minimum for Level 2 is a good starting point. And...I have no problem if somebody wants to take 1 level in an offbeat Class, like Cowboy, to represent backstory and start as a 1st level Superhero getting by on the Wreck Things ability for awhile.

I didn't even bother rolling for money. Do they still use money in the 30th century?

Not really. And since the Pantheon disapproves of device based powers, most gear is useless or counterproductive. Assume that all regular living expenses are provided for. I don't like running economics in rpgs anyway, gets in the way of telling the story.

>( OOC unless this is a 2nd edition rule I believe for the purposes of lifting and carrying superheroes treat the strength score as twice the value?)
You're thinking of Supplement I, which established that "true strength" for superheroes is equivalent to their STR + WIS, when comparing to non-superhero STR scores.
In terms of encumbrance, the rules are hand-waived for anything lighter than a car.

I'd recommend changing Ferris to, say, Pharos--after the lighthouse at Alexandria. Rocketships and space beacons. Almost the same pronunciation. And a possible tie in to The Sphinx or his Egyptian ruled alternate universe...
