The Mobster Manual is still a long way from being done, which is sad because I have 105 pages of rough draft in various stages of completion so far. Phew!
From the foreword:
"This present work, as will be apparent to those who know their comic books, is more than the work of a single author. It represents the amazing creativity of an entire generation of comic book artists, who came up with some of the most imaginative antagonists comic books have ever seen, all under some of the toughest deadlines the industry has ever seen. To make sure that you, our readers, are able to fully appreciate it (without having to read as many golden age comic books as we have!), we have included as many examples of each mobster-type as we could. But, as encyclopedic as this work is, it cannot be truly comprehensive, for there are still many more comic books that have not yet been read (or maybe even known about!), and the need for a supplement, or perhaps even another full book, may become a reality in the future."

(Reposted from Facebook: ) I've had some important thoughts about the Mobster Manual. That project is going to never be done if I keep adding to it. It's also getting unwieldly-big already. So, as soon as I'm able to get back to the project, I am going to split it into two volumes, like I did with Supplement IV. The Mobster Manual: Vol. I, A-L I will be able to put out still this year. Vol. 2 I will not even attempt to put a projected date onto yet.
I will probably also leave out the appendix I had planned to add, for completeness' sake, of all the mobstertypes I created for 1st edition that I have found no corroborative evidence of for 2nd edition.

Just checking to see if anyone's still around, and because I am re-reading the 2E book these days and feeling wishful for the Mobster Manual

Four years later, ALMOST done with volume 1 of the Mobster Manual!
I am working on the cover art now...very slowly....
I've been asked which characters will be on the cover. Fair question! You will be disappointed, though, if you're expecting superheroes. You would have to be a real comic book pro to recognize them, but the cover will definitely feature:
Don Dixon, Jack Woods, and Stuart Taylor.
Possibly more!

Well, of course we shouldn't expect heroes...this is the Mobster Manual! Can't wait to see it!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! (Dogs for miles around howl in unison) "Comic books were pretty gonzo crazy back then. You could have a dope ring-busting G-Man, a funny animal character, and a planet-hopping galactic explorer all in the same anthology comic book -- back to back! It's that anything-is-possible feel I most wanted to emulate in H&H." Preach It, Chief Editor, Preach It! Off to RPGNet twice in two days now...
