I had long planned to release adventure modules based on the scenarios I ran in my home campaign, but since I often used classic TSR modules and only modified them, that limited what was available to me to publish. But never did I deviate from the published module more than with "Palace of the Vamp Queen," where I only went with the name and the flavor of a few encounter areas and made up the rest. I was quite satisfied with the results. Plus, the lower level borrowed heavily from an AD&D adventure of mine that had almost made it into Dungeon magazine back in the day, and I was anxious for that to finally see the light of day in some form.
I've run Palace quite a few times now, including at conventions, and never been dissatisfied with it. I did have one moment of regret with the name once, as one person mistakenly thought I had the license to "Palace of the Vampire Queen." Most everyone else seems to either understand the title is in tribute to that classic module, or is just not familiar with that classic module.
The code designator, RT1, means that this is the first module in the Road Trip series. Each subsequent module would take place in or near a different city in the U.S. So far, I have not had the free time to work on any additional entries in the series, as the bigger writing projects keep me too busy.
