Hourman sprints through the door.

So he does! And he finds his first choice of corridors. There is a corridor heading east directly south of the door, and just south of that corridor is a second, parallel corridor also heading east. The first one goes 60' and opens into a room, from which can be seen flickering light. But down the second corridor it only goes 30' and ends at a closed door, from which comes no light.

marking the "you are here sign" at the cross-roads, Hour-man takes the parallel passage to the closed door. As he nears the door he covers the flashlight with his cape giving a little light. He stops and listens and checks the door to see if it is locked.

Hour-Man detects no light under the door and, when he listens to it, hears no noise. He finds the door is not locked; it is stuck slightly, but nothing he can't easily budge.
Behind it is a room, 20' wide and 25' long (east-west), opening to the right (south). He is entering in the northwest corner. There appears to be a passage leading out in the southwest corner, nearby, heading back west (paralleling the other two passageways to the north of it).
The room is a bedroom, rustic in design, with leather and other animal skins pinned to the walls, rugs on the floor, a nightstand with an electric lamp on it, cabinet, end table with a phonograph on it, and the most unusual thing in the room is a 3' high retaining wall around a 5' square pool of water with water lilies floating in it.
There appears to be no one here and there are no doors leading out. The room is dusty, but not *too* dusty.

Hour-man checks for footprints and then being a scientist checks out this retaining wall with the water lilies.

Hour-Man finds no tracks, though it would be possible to walk and follow the rugs from the door to the bed without stepping on bare concrete.
The pool is definitely more the type of thing he would expect to see in a fancy hotel lobby rather than a bedroom in an underground bunker. He half-expects to find fish in it, but he sees none. The water lilies appear to be real; there are five of them floating on the water's still surface. The water is very clear and he can see the bottom of the pool, and sees a pouch in the water on the bottom of the pool.
((This is after six minutes of uninterrupted searching the room.))

Hour-man goes to the pool and takes the pouch out and puts it into his pocket. He then leaves the room and heads out the west corridor

Hour-Man gets soaking wet, dunking half his body in the pool in order to reach the pouch. He finds it's heavy, at least 4 lbs.
When he goes to the west "corridor" he finds it had only looked like a hallway from his initial vantage point. It's actually a 10' deep alcove. There's a beer keg on a small square table and a metal cannister on the floor behind it. On the back wall is a damaged poster that looks like it has a picture of the planet Mars on it.

Hour-man sees if the beer keg is tapped and if it is he takes the cannister if it is a mug and brings it to the pool, rinses it out and has a glass and takes a moment to dry off, if the keg is not tapped then he will just rest in the bed for a second. Then he leaves the room and looks around the corner to make sure the "coast is clear" and then moves down the corridor to the room to the east, that he has not explored.

Hour-Man finds the beer keg is tapped and there is a ceramic cup next to it for him to pour a drink into. He picks up the big canister and can tell from its smell that it holds kerosene, at least 4 gallons of it.
He is turning to leave the annex when he sees a man is now standing in the middle of the room, staring right at him. The man wears gray robes ((he bears a striking resemblance to the actor Mark Strong, circa 2008, if Mark was wearing a long wavy blonde wig)) and has his hands crossed in front of himself.
"Are you making yourself at home?" the man asks with dry sarcasm.

Hour-man says, "you look to be a guy in charge here. So I am here for the Justice Society of America and they disappeared down here. With the magic show and the cultists in the other room I know, the JSA is not here on their own free will. So you going to surrender and take me to them or do we have to do this the hard way?"
If hour-man still has the contents in the mug or the cannister he readies to throw it at the robed man if things turn into a fight

The man smirks. "I would indeed be, as you so eloquently put it, the guy in charge here. If it is my prisoners you wish to see so badly, that can be arranged. Follow me..."
The mysterious stranger turns and moves towards the NW entrance Hour-Man had used to come into the room. As Hour-Man shines his flashlight on him from behind, he notices the man casts no shadow.

The shadowless, unnamed man moves back into the hallway, around the corner, and starts heading towards the room light by flickering light to the far east (see map in the OOC folder).

Hour-man follows closely wondering who this man is and why he casts no shadow. He keeps an eye behind him to make sure the devil men and the cultists are not going to attack him from behind. As he walks he asks, " so why have you captured the JSA?"

The man doesn't turn around but answers while he walks. "I can only assume this 'JSA' you keep mentioning are the intruders who arrived earlier today. They were captured because, again, they were intruders. And I will brook no interference in these well-laid plans by meddling intruders..."
He leads Hour-Man into the far west chamber and finds it a large chamber, 40' wide and 60' long (east-west). There are two rows of four columns supporting the vaulted 30' high ceiling and, at the far end of the room, a platform with what looks like a medieval throne atop it. In front of the platform is a 15' diameter pit in the floor that looks deep.
The chamber is poorly lit with only three torches, but there are clearly seven men in hooded robes standing before the pit, and another one of those rat-men scurrying around them and getting kicked around and hollered at.
Then the man Hour-Man followed into this room just -- disappears. And all seven men turn and look Hour-Man's way... ((Intentions?))
