"Well Perfessor, for now you can call me a concerned citizen with an interest in ridding this city of crime." Charlie said quietly. "I was in the neighborhood and noticed the cops, thought there might be something I could do." Charlie then leaned back against the wall of the shop next to the jewelry store and cracked his knuckles.

As the two of you talk two of the three officers walk with the owner of the shop. The last cop who was dusting the door closes his fingerprint case and says " citizens this is a police matter unless you are giving a statement, please move accross the street."

"Erik? Erik MacArthur, is that you?" Robert said to the police officer. "Didn't you take my Criminology 101 and 102 classes about four years ago? It looks like you made detective!"
((Requesting a save vs. plot to gain a plot convenience, and then a re-roll for encounter reaction. My hope is that "Erik" will want to brag about the case to his old professor.))

Rolling save vs plot rolled 17 Rerolling reaction rolled 9
The officer thinks for a second and says " professor yep i remember you, your class was one of my favorite. I cant give you specifoc information about the case. I can say this is the third jewlery store that has been broken into in the past two weeks. Each case the doors were locked by the owners. Each time a few jewels were missing. I know the last two stores specific jewels were taken. This is a true baffling case."

"I see..." Robert said, though Erik had actually revealed little. He fished a card out of his pocket. "It seems a fascinating case. If your sergeant starts breathing down your neck about this, and you could use an expert to bounce ideas off of, don't hesitate to call this number."
When that encounter was over, Robert approached his knuckle-cracking companion again. "Now, let's see what I can learn about you. You're an incidental passerby, like me, and like me your first thought was to offer assistance. Do you have a job you need to head off to now? Because I would very much like to know where that shopkeeper goes and who he talks to..."
Robert handed Charlie a business card as well. "If you learn anything, don't hesitate to call. There might even be a $10 bill in it for you."

"Hey, hold on perfessor. I'm not looking for a job." Charlie hands the other man his business card.
"Charlie's Speed Shop Charlie Ironhead, Proprietor 1250 Venice Blvd Los Angeles Klondike 4255"
"You can see I have my own business, and I'm fairly successful at it.I just happen to have a big dislike for criminals. Now, if you're wanting to talk to this guy and see where it goes I'm in. Maybe we'll find someone who needs their head put on straight. If you catch my drift." Charlie said with a wink.

"Hmm, no, I don't think so. Good day, sir..." Robert said, suddenly sounding very uninterested.
Robert kept the card, planning to look into this Charlie Ironhead later. Right now he strolled away, as if he had somewhere to go. He tried to make sure he wasn't being followed as he walked a half-block away, then paused, and tried to get the lay of the land. He wanted to know the street layout around the store and was prepared to look around. How far was it from the nearest intersection? Was there an alley anywhere near the store? Maybe a parking lot behind the store where a back door could be found? ((Can we get a map?))

The store is on a corner between 2nd and 3rd avenue. The store is a a single floor. There is a grocery store next to the jeweler which also means there is an alleyway between both stores. Accross the street there is a barber shop and a hotel. The hotel is two stories and it is a holiday inn. Accross the street is an alley between the barber shop and the hotel.
In fact archersix bike is parked in that alley. The professor car is parked next to the hotel
( ooc need a response from major victory)

Robert took note of all this, but left the scene. He did have library books to return, after all. He planned to look into the matter again later...but as The Web.
On the way to the library, and back home, Robert was careful to watch for chances to do random good deeds. While at the library, he wanted to check the recent newspaper accounts of this string of robberies, and compare them to a map. He wanted to see if they were all within just one neighborhood, or had anything else geographically in common (like along a certain street, a bus route, or the like).

Robert leaves the scene on the way to the library. On his way there no cries for help occur ( made a random chance). Arriving robert conducts his research, to get his information will take an hour or two.
What would charlie like to do?

"Huh, that one's an odd duck," Charlie said to himself as the suited man walked away. Knowing that he'd have to take a different tack to get to the bottom of these break-ins Charlie first walked to the grocery store, hoping they have a lunch counter. There he grabbed a burger and a cup of coffee for dinner. Then while it was still light, he continued his ride down to the Santa Monicas to perhaps engage in some street racing and garner some publicity. Then he would make a quick run back to his shop where he would put his costume on under his coveralls and leather jacket with his mask and gloves in his pocket. He intended to patrol Los Angeles that night, cruising around every bank and jewelry store he could think of keeping a weatchful eye out for any break ins.

Charlie you enjoy you lunch and relax. The police leave about the time you finish your lunch. You cruise around and make a few bucks lets say $10 on a couple of races. You make it back to your shop to change.
The professor finds out that three stores have been robbed. Each of the stores indicate the small jewelry were taken, th doors are locked and no witnesses. Each of these stores occurred on the NW side of LA. Pulling some public records you find there are two more jewlery stores in that area.

((Did you mean a small amount of jewelry was taken, or only small items of jewelry were taken? And Robert would not have bothered with public records to find out that last bit; he would have looked in a phone book.))
